Is there such a thing. i had a quick look and there are only manual ones. i want it to tell me what the best firout is for a particular ship. as its not science, it would give a couple of variations on the theme. is there any auto not manual thing like this?? |

don't be lazy, check forums for ideas for setups, download eft and figure out what setup will work for your particular situation. tbh there's really no 'best' setup for any ship. |

Edited by: Mariana Benn on 23/04/2008 11:48:50 Setups are based on the situation so there is no "best" or "ideal" setup for ships. There's the difference between pvp and pve, there's fighting styles, there's your target's unique tank and tactics, there solo vs small gang vs large fleet... ect.. Lies, every ship has a cookie-cutter setup, with very slight variations.
Go here: Battleclinic.com and on the horizontal bar where it says Filters, click Show or Hide and select the ships you're interested in. ______________________________________

Though that doesnt make them "ideal" in any way, just "most widely used", and those setupsa are tied to the ship purpose anyway.
But the advice about battleclinic is nice. Thought i'd recommend checking out the thread on this forum - new player will not understand how those setups should be used, which is even more important than setups themselves.

The auto-fitter of EVE is called common sense. Couple that with forums + friends and you have some pretty reliable results

Here is the setup that is best for all of your personal EvE needs:
[Pod]
[no low slot]
[no med slot]
[no high slot]
[no rig slot]
Undock and be shot at as necessary. If nobody shoots you in a reasonable amount of time, you may self destruct.

Seriously, there is no best setup for any one ship. You can set up a ship to do lots of different things; what constitutes a 'good' setup is one that accomplishes what you need and matches your skills, budget, and style of play. No program can automate that.
Playing around with EFt is a good way to learn the basics of fitting a ship, but never rely on it to tell you how well a setup will work. Getting on the test server and actually flying it around works even better.

ALright, to be semi-constructive, although I really did laugh when I read this...
You'll never get a best setup generator worth anything, because you'll end up w/ officer mods and deadspace mods that are way outside your budget if you're new enough that you don't use EFT. If you limit it to T2 stuff only, then you've got problems in a situation where you're 1MW shy on power and a faction or named T1 module would be better (depending on budget again).
To really make a program like this, you'd need to import your skills via API (manually insert your implants), input your budget, the ship, and then send all that stuff to someone who knows what they're doing and wait for a response. That might work.

Now, now, why would I lie. Ya, you can go to battleclinic or the forums to see different fits (which is usefu), but to just to always go with the most popular is lame. Creating your own setup is one of the most interesting parts of the game and gives you the element of surprise in a battle. Besides a lot of the "cookie cutter" fits are just trendy anyway. If the collective does find a fit with a bad ass advantage it just gets nerfed eventually. "Still haven't found that lost cheeseburger" -- Mar --

I have written a really crappy application for mission runners. It works, but it was made in like a couple of hours so its not very polished. You select the mission from a list (can add them using DPS data from eve-info.com), then select ship and enter your resists. Then you select armour or shield tank and enter how many slots to dedicate for hardeners. The program will tell you the best hardeners to use for the selected mission. |
