Thought I'd drop this into the pond of services, and hopefully some feedback from you all.
EVE-Live was former a test project involving live-streaming of EVE (this was my pre-EVETV stuff) and since then went into coma.
So now I thought I'd try collect all your ship setups for the future, and of course also to aid you all in usefull (and not so usefull) setups around.
evelocal.com works in conjunction with EFT and EVEMon to save, display and import/export your setups and all skills needed to run said setups. You will be able to search for setups or browse through the various setups for each ships.
Searching for the modules and/or ship included in the setup you are looking for, and then quickly import that setup into EFT to see what it will do with your skills. Lack the skills? Easily import the skill plan into EVEMon to see how your path to the complete setup looks like.
And some other gibberish. Anyway, any feedback is most welcome. And as with all my services - flame me for the bugs and other things that is just a waste of time and I'll do my best to sort them out.
And of course - add your setup and fittings
So... on to evelocal.com

Really good idea and service. Thanks, yet again, Chribba!
EDIT: Now all we need is some sort of tool so that you can log on to Eve-info via Eve-Live, fetch the skills of the character, and have it show the abilities of the setup for who you're logged in as...

It would be great if you could store upload your character via the api (don't know if you can do this on the web) and then filter for the ship fittings you can actually use, just in the event that a newer player doesn't want to look through the mounds of full T2 fits.

Holy crap, awesome!
One request - can you add something that will let us comment on the ship fittings?
Would be good for whoever's submitting the setup ("Requires AWU V" "Requires PG implant" "Tactics: Stay at 30km and bla bla bla") and for other people to well, post comments. __________________________________

Date posted and by whom would also be handy... as well as perhaps the major version of Eve at the time (so that you could refine your searches to the latest patches).

edit: above poster mentioned also showing eve version at time of setup... great idea.

Both API and comments can be implemented fairly easy. As well as additional descriptions and check if you can use the ship etc.
I decided to wait with such features though as I was expecting people to import the setups quickly into EFT (which probably already has all that info). But it shouldn't be too hard to take care of.
Will see what I can do about it. |

The ship index page is a little cluttered and unclear; I think it would be easier to use if the ships were ordered by race within their categories, maybe even with the race names in different colors before each group. What about making the categories collapsible and storing the "view state" in a cookie ? Many players will actually only be interested in a rather limited number of categories. Also, the ships for which setups exist at all should be distinguishable more easily, without having to actually read all the numbers.
Good site otherwise, easy to understand and use.

Very Nice.
Would be really useful if it posted some base stats such as Velocity (w/mwd on), DPS, Cap run time, defense etc, and if we could compare setups of same ships in these categories much like you can compare modules in Eve. This way, we could compare set ups and quickly gravitate to what we like (speed, tanking, dps, and . . . price . . if you could figure that one out).
Would love to be able to look at 10 Zealots and go hmm, this one is so much faster, but this one seems cheap w/ good DPS.
Lovely start to a great tool. Tried the copy to clipboard w/EFT up. Worked like a charm.

Yeah actually I have suggested to Gripen (EFT author) that maybe the setup exports could include a small stats output, eg all those values that you get in EFT. That way it would be very easy to implement the "rankings" you are talking about. Ofc this could also be done on my side, but major rewrite and since all that info is already in EFT upon export that would be even easier.
But suggestion noted down, will see what can get implemented.

I noticed a few flaws at.
Required skills do not list ammo reqs.
I am working on some fixes and features which should be released during the day.
They are but not limited to: Racial ship listing with colors, api login to link setups to users (if wanted) as well as being logged in will show if you have the required skills for a specific setup (in both setup, listing and search screen). Minor fixes here and there. |

Nice site Chribba, but people should be able to comment on posted setups. And some kind of rating system is missing. Sooner or later alot of crappy setups will be posted on Your site. It would be hard for someone not familiar with the ship to distinguish between a good and a bad setup.
Best regards, Iris.

The new features should now be online, as well as the API registration.
Comments are found at the bottom of each setup, also the ability to say good/bad. Graphical indications of the rating will be added later on when there's been some setups added and commented.
Still trying to figure out where to display the poster name.

The Character ID is the 10-digit number your character has (you can see it by right-clicking your avatar here).
I better point that out. Or add an auto name->charID script.

Anyone can post as it is right now. I know there may be higher quality, but not everyone wants to give out their API info. So for now I decide to let anyone post, of course if I see that the benefits from forcing API then I will do so.
Plus, there's the benefits of seeing which setups are working, and what skills are missing etc that you only get by registering, and of course getting your face next to your comment

Are the good/bad ratings tallied or anything? Looks as tho I could post an infinite number of bad ratings and comments. Would be pretty sweet if you could sort the index of a particular ship by it's average rating. A registered user should then only get to rate a given setup one time.
You should def consider making registration required. At the least, non-registered users shouldn't have comment ability. People need to get over their API... it's really no big deal. Oh and you should put a link to the API page on your registration page too. =P

That is certainly good for showing how good your particular setup is for you, when posting on the forums, but in terms of looking at various setups on EL what one person posts and might be the fastest might be because they have Navigation 1, but another might be with Navigation 5. If you tied it into the API to pull the skills through of who you are logged in as, and change the abilities depending on that, it would give a better idea of which is better or worse across a range of setups for you.

Of course, I see what you mean, and I will most def look into it. I have a feeling I got some major coding to do with all the formulas etc. It would def be a nice addition, and skills are already in the db now with registered users so...

Thank you OP. Good stuff.
One question though.. Will I be able to see only the skills needed to fly the given ship and "use" all modules and items? What about the skills needed to fit all this, and have enough cap too? And what of the skills needed to use all this effectively?
It would be nice if whoever was exporting his/her setup would also export their current skills so that people know what they should aim for.

Well you wouldn't be able to fit them if you don't have the skill, thus you cannot use the item either. But it will show which skills are missing, atm it won't say which skill for which module though but that's on the list.
As for the "modules being online" graphic, that's a static background. But I have plans to show it there which module is offline due to no skill kinda (if I can make that). As regards to cap etc that won't show atm, it involves a lot of coding to make this an EFT-Web version, and that's currently not planned. But we'll see how things turn out.

Would it be possible to allow someone to modify or remove a setup they have posted if they perhaps didnt realise it would take the setup name from EFT? Its not a bad name as such its just not very descriptive, I would prefer a name which states the ships use.
