Beats me its really ****ing me off I was in the game... playing then it kicked me out telling me full cluster. What a load of crap. I was starting to think this game was great but if the dev team is going to pull an EA I'll just go to something else.

why is it that with every patch it gets worse, for ccp read mircosoft.i wonder if they r going to give refunds for the time people r not on line. a weekend is when most people can log on and play.everquest/daoc don't have these probs.

They did tell us that they was rebooting the cluster! So I imagine it will take a bit of time for each server in a cluster to come on - each one controls about 0.5% of the game, but can take more if others are down. At moment it's taking only 1000 players, but as rebooted servers come online the number is going up...now it's up to 3000, and when more come on it'll go up to its norm!
They did do a huge upgrade job so technical issues will happen in the next few days. -----------------------------------

Relax people they limit the amount of people on because of issues with the patch and hardware upgrades- They are working on it. However they do need to improve their communication to the players.

Well Good Job folks.
The month after free trials when you're trying to get new players you want to shine, and have a good product.
Not have something that shows the lacking nature of server and patch management. I'm sure many people will speak loudly with their wallets.
Two weekends running now. Eve is unplayable. With lots of downtime all during the week.
So what are the plans on having the server up and running for paying users to play?

Im sorry to hear you had to play FF that long.
scan the forum posts when the last big server upgrade was. Read further on why it was done now, rather in a hurry, that in some weeks time.
Im happy that people support CCP for upgrading clusters and ressorces instead of CCP giving a wet one and have the community play on a sinclair spectrum driven server...
*sigh* People cry when its laggy and they cry when new ressorces are added to reduce the lag...

Well, I too am happy they are upgrading servers, but not happy that I can't play the game on my time off on the weekend. When you pay for any service, you hope to get to use it.

This is normal, in the sence that upgrades make new problems. But once they've solved them (and they will) it will work nice again.
I remember similar problems in beta when they moved servers to England, and when 5k mark maked alot of lag and full cluster/proxy problems.
Only thing is why friday was the day of choice. Should have made it in the beginning of the week (im thinking they wanna hit 10k asap) _____________

Strange, i remember reading somewhere in beta, that they boasted that each server could take 100k. Sure that was when they moved servers to UK. ---------------------------------------------

I was a beta tester and I remember that they said they could take 100k players simultaneously. It was clearly marketing nonsense. ________________________________________________ Vane Ekhart

thanks ccp for reminding me of the reason why i left everquest,,,,, i am one of the poor bastads that pays for a service and doesn't recieve it but oh well let me see oh yeah patience patience as all them other poor paying sods keep recommending i do. sadly its not enuff to keep bleating on about how good ccp are because frankly they remind me of sony, ubisoft, microsoft and all them other money grabbing folks who think the sun shines out of their pockets, i would very much like to continue playing but i can feel another subscription less at this rate i got told oh yes this is the place to be but sadly its fallen well short of my expectations....

Its simple. They dont care about their customers. They do things on their own time. When they feel like it.
They knew they were growing rapidly. The overflow on tranq did not happen overnight. If they really cared about their customers they would have done this "upgrade" months ago.
They saw it coming and we as customers have been paying for their negligence for months.

Right, and the announcement of E&B shutting down in a few months had nothing to do with the recent influx of users. When I started around the first of this year they hadn't even hit their 5k record yet. So if it took EVE a year to hit 5k users, and 3 months to go from 5k to 10k following the announcement, you're saying they should have had some sort of telepathic premonition that E&B was going to shut down and large numbers of those players were going to find themselves to EVE.
Hell, even if they if they predicted the shut down of E&B when EA pulled the GM support, it takes time to research, plan and implement a major overhaul.
As for any company doing things in "their own time"... who's time do you suggest they do it in? Yours? Mine? The Easter bunny's? If they'd implemented a major upgrade like this a month ago, three months ago, six months ago, you'd be whining and complaining just like you are now. There's just no pleasing some people. The whole point people are actually complaining about is when it's done. Friday from 12-24 really isn't the time to do this... they do have statistics when the least players are online, why can't they arrange for upgrades or even daily downtime to be then?

a 12-hour downtime is more than likely going to cut into someones eve time. it just happened to be yours, and mine, and thousands of other peoples. The reason they had to limit the amount of logons is because all the pathetic losers that sit at their comps clicking 'connect' repeatedly while DT is in progress, all end up connecting at the same time when the servers come back up. Name a server that can take 5000 users simultaneously accessing complex information. And other MMORPGS where the player info is stored on the users comp dont count, we're talking about half the player base raping the server's bandwidth in under 10 seconds.
No company can predict that kind of demand. anyway.. seems to be working fine now. Good job CCP, great game, great community (there are some exceptions), and under the circumstances, good service :D
