Edited by: Mi selv on 24/04/2008 07:17:36 I can't find any docs on what the "use corp account" does when buying something. E.g. how many buy/sell orders can a corp have? Are these affected by skills? What transaction tax do they get hit by?

As far as I know it buys the item with the corporation's money. I do not believe a corporation can setup buy orders and any fees will be calculated using your skills and standing.

Yep. All orders are placed as normal, except the money goes to/from the corp wallet instead of yours. The corp can have infinite orders as long as people have the skills to place them. |

Question relating to this....buy orders using the corp wallet go into which hangar? The one belonging to the person placing the buy order?
Just curious.

I tried trading on behalf of the Corp a few months ago - it was a complete nightmare.
It is possible - but the obstacles put in your way - for example having to deliver all the items back to yourself - after buying them with corp cash - is just too labourious to deal with.
Using Corp wallet for Buy Orders is a huge problem.
However, when selling items, ticking the corp ticker is not too bad as that just moves ISK into a Corp wallet - much easier to manage. |

Aww c'mon, CCP have put a bunch of nice tools in place to convince all the NPC trade alts to go and get into a real PC corp, don't spoil their fun!
Also isn't it more fun when your assets are exposed to wardecs?
I hope ambulation lets you pod people in stations and they can be camped into the clone bay until they change to a different station of that corp (plus isk for the clone fees each time) |

Here is a few tips for Corporate trading:-
1) Buying with the corp wallet places the item in the Deliveries hanger. If you have an office at that location you can deliver the item to anyone else's hanger even if you are not in that station.
2) Contracts can be created for "Corp" usage to pick up and deliver items (courier contact) So corp members can tote the stuff around for you, if you pay them etc, Just assign the contract to the corp or alliance if you're in one.
3) To Place a contract on behalf of the corp at a location in which you do NOT have an office, you create a courier contract from a location you do have an office to the location you want to place the contract.
For example - Office in Jita in expensive, and if you want to place a contract up from your corp rather then you personally. You create a courier contract from an office to Jita and use "On behalf of the corp" someone picks it up and ships it to Jita, delivers it. It is now sitting in Jita 4-4 Deliveries. You are then able to create a contract on behalf of the corp.
Remember the Deliveries is a one way Corp hanger, however for contracts that do not get taken etc the items are deposited back in to deliveries.
Hint - If you are going to do this solo you'll need 2 characters/toons. You can not pick up a contract you created on behalf of the corp. You'll need to create the contract with 1 toon and pick it up with another. (I've bugged it but it got closed stating it's working at intended, which it's not IMO.)
Buy and Sell with "Use the corp wallet" places anything in the Deliveries, however you can sell from your personal hanger on behalf of the corporation. Which goes against the Contracting requirements, can someone say double standard?!?, I've bugged that as well.
You can only place as many Corporate buy and sell orders as you have skills, Contracts doesn't work that way, you do need Corporate Contracting if you plan on using Corporate contracts in any sort of large amount.
With the use of Corporate Contracting and knowing the system you can make everything look like the corporation is on every buy/sell/contract keeping your name and your trading alt completely quiet. Of course if you're in a 2 man corp it may be pretty obvious who you are

I find corp accounts EXTREMELY valuable for accounting purposes - as you can create multiple wallets. While the master wallet isn't interesting, keeping track of the isk related to multiple business plans can be a nightmare if you don't keep separate records. Using separate wallets for different business lines or transactions makes record keeping easier.

The best feature of a corp wallet is that it makes it easier to pool resources between multiple trading alts. If you diversify your investments across multiple hubs, you can use one single corp wallet as a shared fund for your orders. It, of course, makes excel a necessity (not that it wasn't already), though i still find it much easier than using personal accounts.

I am thinking of starting a trade partnership with one of my corp mates. We would each be responsible for handling certain regions with a combined pool of money. Would it make sense to setup a separate corporation and manage the trading through the corp wallet? Is the extra hassle worth it?

Actually, you don't need an office to deliver items to corp members. Simply select the items from corp assets right click and select deliver to member.
