Just saw below remark from other thread.
Quote:Bots exist because ice mining in high sec is (outside of ganking) completely risk free and exceptionally easy to perform
Is it even possible to mine ice in high sec areas ? I thought it was only in 0.3 and lower it was possible.
*I'm back after a years break and cant remember much other than I was training for ice mining. |

It's definitely possible, Ice Fields appear in 0.7 and below. They're pretty low pay out, (250k per raw block of ice compared to 300k for a Strip Cycle worth of raw Veldspar) but Ice fields are often checked much less often than belts by gankers, and many corps actually use the ice for a POS. |

Actually regarding high sec systems you are far more likely to be suicide ganked in a Ice Belt as it is more likely for the exhumers there to be afk. Nakugard being a case in point. Asteroid belts in systems that contain ice belts will also tend to be more dangerous. |

Ice mining in highsec is not risk free, you need very little to gank a mackinaw.. Recently it seems to be a surge in killing ice miners.. Lot of the people i know, stopped completly their mining, Questioning if they even should continue to play the game since its so easy to grief them.. I sortoff understand, their ship can't handle the smallest amounts of aggression ^^ |

You are thinking moon mining, ice is like asteroid mining only it gets processed into isotopes and stuff for fuel. |

On a side note seems pointless to gank ice miners since POs'es needs it for running, so would think most corps would be interested in ice miners, but guess they get it from own members. |

Welp, on that note its also rather pointless to Gank regular miners since almost everything in the game depends on the minerals for manufacturing. Unless they are botting.............. An Orca-load of Ice refined then sold is about 22 million.
Values on an Orca of Minerals varies considerably, obviously.

I run POSes in empire and in w-space, so I need ice products. While pure economic rationalism would argue that in fifteen or so minutes I can clear enough sleepers to buy a half dozen orca loads of ice, I still quite like to undock the orca and a couple macks occasionally and gather me some hisec ice.
There has been a recent surge in ice-belt ganking. This has shifted from small destroyer groups, 2 or 3 at a time, to larger groups of very new characters in cruisers / destroyers. There's nothing subtle about their approach so, unless you're botting or major AFK, they're easy enough to avoid ... a PITA all the same though.
We can build and sell pretty much every ship. Check my bio for details. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |
