This might not belong in this part of the forums.
Probed out a mission runner in low-sec and sat on him with my cov ops until friends came.
He was running Damsel in Distress and was webbed by the spider drones.
The second my pal warps in the guy blinks ~100km away from his original position, and proceeds to warp out of the deadspace.
Lag?
Hacks?
I think we petitioned it, but it's been like a couple weeks... I was just curious so im posting here.
Any thoughts guys?

Since you didn't mention him being scrambled, I'm guessing that he was aligned for warp so that the instant he hits the warp button he is out of there. |

Since he was webbed down, is it possible he warped to a wreck far away inside the deadspace which he was mostly aligned to already, thus getting him quickly out of scram range to warp to safety without waiting to align to whatever station/safespot/gate he needed to get to...?
I'm not familiar with all the missions, so idk if Damsel has rats that warp scramble in it or not...
Just a thought. |

Some missions are not in deadspaces, and iirc Damsel is one of them... not 100% sure though.

Is damsel in distress deadspace? I don't think it is tbh... If it's not and he was webbed it's very possible he just warped to a wreck and got the heck outta there.
Been ages since I ran a lvl 4 mission that wasn't someone else's but I do think that one was just an encounter... ------------

Edited by: Diek Ran on 27/04/2008 03:52:03 Damsel should be non-deadspace.
Maybe he created a BM at 100km warpin.

damsel in distress is one of those few missions where you can pull tatical ongrid warps. Haveing the BM/wreck to warp to is a different matter.

DD isn't a deadspace mission. Apparently, he's a better pilot then you.

Maybe he created a BM at 100km warpin.
Edit: no crap, must be 150km away to warp, so he must make extra efforts to create a proper bookmark. Makes no sense anyhow.
Edit2: or he had a cloaked gangmate he warped to, and they probed the mission out themselves
Select wreck at 150k, warp to 50k. That would put you 100k from start and 50k off any warpable object for someone else to warp to. I do it a lot when I want to get to a certain range without actually flying all the way there. ------------

It's called aligning. He was 100% speed towards something he could warp to. You came on his overview and he insta-warped. Petitioning when someone gets away from you is pretty funny.

Bears are so mean on forums!
Yeah, so, just to clarify: It was Damsel... which isnt your standard deadspace accel gate stuff... and thus he was able to warp around. I guess.
We were upset because we figured mission space is mission space. I mean...
You can't use a MWD in damsel, so why should the rules be different and he be allowed to warp to a point within the mission?
"Its called... aligning." Laff.

No idea if the MDW work or not (who take one in missions?) but damsel in distress is not a deadspace mission. You should had a clue by 1) the ease of scanning him, 2) the fact that you warped at or very near the ship of your target (if you warped at the mission bookamrk you would have found yourself within or near one of the buildings, not nice for a covops)).
Damsel is one of the missions were the missionrunenr will bookmark spots at range from the buildings as the risk of warping to the mission bookmarks and finding that you warped within the building is large.
So no exploit at all, simply a different situation.

D in D is NOT in Deadspace so MWD's work just fine, though why you would gimp your setup with an MWD is beyond me -------------------------------------------
