What I think this game really needs is some large scale war between Empires.
Hunting for belt pirates is kinda easy, and exploring DED pockets require some immensive firepower or a number of friends. I think the game currently quite boring for people like me who doesn't have EVE-friends to go together into some missions or DED sites. Frankly I just prefer to fly alone and do my own stuff and what I miss is the opportunity to easily get some serious fun. I think the large scale war might be just that.
For example - let's assign some regions in a Caldari-Gallente border a 'war zone' mark and for example in this region it is perfectly ok to attack Caldari if you're Gallente and vice versa.
Additionally it might be a good idea to introduce there some NPCs Empire fleets on both sides - so they travel there hiding from each other and attacking its enemy's stations and fight when they meet, and that players would be able to join them in the battles, and there might be an exciting opportunity for players to hunt for such fleets and when found them, report somehow their locations to their respective Empires so that the player's Empire can send there its own fleet and they CLASH! There could be bonuses to players for finding enemy fleets and reporting them, and some bounty for making kills in fleet's battle.

I worked out the other day, E=MC2.
I was really pleased to discover Einstein thought the same way as me.
Tomorrow I am going to try and determine if the world is round or not.

What this game needs is a way for players to band together and go slug it out in deep space in long-drawn-out territorial engagements.
