It's getting beyond a joke now with 1700 people online in SWA at this time of day, a huge number of foul-mouthed individuals are regularly polluting the channel with their filth.
This is supposed to be a teen-rated game. I just had to block 15 people in under 5 minutes for racist, sexual and other extremely inappropriate talk in a public channel.
I don't want to speculate about where this latest wave of jerks have come from, but it is always around this time that it descends into madness on this channel.
Yes I can block them, but newer people don't know about block and are intimdated from asking for help in channel by the torrent of vile mouthed idiots. Once you've dished out a dozen or so blocks, the channel is eerily silent. Not good for Eve.
Please do something about it.  |

Taken from the eve-online Term of service:
2 You may not use any abusive, defamatory, ethnically or racially offensive, harassing, harmful, hateful, obscene, offensive, sexually explicit, threatening or vulgar language. (Alternate spelling or partial masking of such words will be reprimanded in the same manner as the actual use of such words.)
So if it gets bad enough report it via petition and people in CCP will review the chat logs and will take action as they see fit. Expect that casual smack talk will be overlooked the truly bad stuff will most likely cause sanctions(warning, kick, ban, permaban) depending on severity and past history of that person involved.

This is what happens when you have hundreds of mission *****s in one channel. To be honest it would not be half as bad as it is if people would learn to stop feeding the trolls. All in all it provides a good learning experience as to what EVE in general is like though, people do not all suddenly become friendly fuzzy kittens when you leave SWA.

I do believe that's teen behavior, appears to be spot-on for the game's rating.

You should have rolled an Amarr in the IAC or a Minnie in Pator Tech. I find both noob corps to be full of interesting moastly mature people. Except when SiJira comes online in IAC. Then the intelligence points start to drop down below freezing with a quickness.  |

Join a corp and get booted right back out... that will move you to Caldari Provisions or some other similar NPC corp. SWA is the noob/starter corp and full of annoying crap

Keep your logs turned on and petition every last one of them instead of blocking.
Best case: CCP reacts, bans them for some time and they learn how to behave.
Super best case: they get perma-banned and have to go back to where they came from.

I hate to burst your bubble. But have you LISTENED to a group of teenagers lately? I work in a high school and the filth that you hear in the halls between classes would turn you six shades of red compared to whats going on in SWA chat. Frankly its par for the course. But if you want to do something about it petition every instance of it that you see and encourage like minded people to do the same. I make it a policy to petition anyone and every one who curses for harassment if its directed towards me or eula violation if its towards some one else. Some times the gm's do something other times they don't but posting on the forums is a guaranteed way to make nothing useful happen. You see I'm not just a forum troll I troll ingame too :) |

I don't remember SAK chat being too bad, though I cannot say a GM flailing around with the banstick would not have been welcome sometimes. |

Selecting STI and not SWA was properly one of my better choices in EVE.
1/10 of the member count of SWA and the amount of morons I have encountered has been very limited.

I hear that, I had an Imperial Academy alt I used for hauling but had to join the alt to my corp because i couldnt listen to sijira's whining anymore in the imperial academy channel >:-|

Scroll back through the thread some one quoted the eula. It IS a violation, and while you may not perceive it as harassment others might. I select harassment because it gets the fastest response time  . You are probably to stupid and lazy to do it... here:

As for growing up, I grew up a long time ago. I was taught manners and respect things which other people are lacking in. I prefer to teach them to grow up by petitioning, a better response would be to call me petty rather than immature. Trolling 101. The well placed usage of a curse word for effect is normal natural and can be both effective and deserved. The blatant use of vulgarity in every sentence simply demonstrates a lack of intelligence education and is quite frankly an affront. You're opinion has been noted and dismissed you ****wit. <---- effective use of curse words.

I would rather see student visas to goto other schools.
But yeah it gets annoying reporting trolls constantly and all they do is laugh and say they win because really in a strange sense they are right if the logic of not losing = winning.

This is true. IAC ftw! We get 500-600 people in corp maximum on most days, with lovely pleasant conversation and very helpful and patient people like myself
PS: about SiJira, at least she readily gives out ISK and coercers to those who are semi-active in corp chat, shame the ISK is only 66,666.

Petition them, category is Harassment. Record response time for one of my harassment petitions is that the GM responded the minute after I made the petition, and the player didn't say anything in the channel for awhile. So it's just as good imo, just like when reporting isk sellers.

heh I remember as a kid going to the Embassy school, and if you said a bad word you literally got your mouth washed out with carbolic soap. Calling someone "stupid" got you the soap. Calling someone a "cheater" got you the soap. Calling someone a "liar" got you the soap and you got punished again when the teacher told your mum what you'd said.
At the age of nine, the very worst word in my vocabulary was "idiot", and I wouldn't even say that within 200 yards of my house in case my parents heard me.
Of course when we came back to england, that all changed pretty quick...

Then we reserve the right to casually keep considering you a child.
You might find it OK and giggle about swearing or using sexual/racist references, however others will just think you are a stupid kid. Is that how you want to be considered?
