I have been on Eve for over 4 years now, and I have never ventured into 0.0 space. Is there any benefit in going, what is there to do, and is it somewhere I'd want to go solo? _____________________________________________________

Edited by: Batolemaeus on 28/04/2008 14:17:10 What the hell? How can someone stay in Empire for 4 years? I'm now in Empire the first time after a year, and i have absolutely NO idea what i should do here. It's full of people i can't shoot without getting concordokken (at least people told me), when i try to shoot a station i get killed and can't conquer it, and those belts are barren. Nevermind the Exploration here. And what the hell is this with people sitting afk on a gate. What the hell people? Seriously! Any why does nobody greet each other in local? Are you all autistic or what?
Ffs, when i have more time for eve again i will go straight back to 0.0. This Highsec must be the most boring part of the game.
p.s. *hint* *hint* |

You wont get killed instantly in 0.0 if you go in with a ship that as rapid align and warp qualities, and can withstand smartbombing for long enough to get warped.

I have heard of them. Didnt say it was 100% safe, I said you wont necessarily get killed instantly. The OP also said that he was exploring, which I take it he will be doing in either a cheap scout frigate or shuttle.

The nickname is bubble. Blob is what you usually find around one of them buggers. ----------

You can get through most bubble using gate camps in just a tech 1 frigate with ease, if you fit for it and know how to use your ship. fast tech 1 frigate + mwd + overdrive injectors + wcs = good bye gate camp
Any normally speed fitted interceptor just zooms through most of them without a problem.
A cloaking interceptor, well that is just literally impossible to catch. It's more survivable than a cov ops.

I haven't seen 0.0 gate camps??? Well, that would have been kind of odd, considering that I've been going to 0.0 since my first few weeks playing (and actually living there most of the time since), that I was in Goonswarm fighting BoB for several months late fall through early this year, and that I currently mainly live in FD- in Syndicate.

Ask a 0.0 based alliance/corp/player of your choice what the scouts or intel channels report when they run into a warp disruption field (anchorable or hictor/dictor).
Pro tip: It's bubble.

The Blob!
Also a large "Bubble" is either 36km T1 or 54km T2.
And to the OP, I can't not believe you have never left empire. The very 1st week I packed my stuff, jumped in a frigate and died 32 jumps out. No WTZ then and only maybe 300k skill points. Fun as hell.

Will you make more money in 0.0 than in empire? No, probably not, but it certainly makes all the games activities more interesting. I started out as a high sec mission runner for my first two months but I live in 0.0 now wouldn't move back.
0.0 is really much the same as empire except that it's a group environment where pvp is simply an accepted way of life. You quickly learn to fly safe and it's no longer so dangerous/scary.
One thing's for sure, you'll never look at one of those "I got ganked in high sec" threads the same again.

the only benefits of going are 1) to say you been 2) to pvp (if your into that) 3) good amount of teamwork 4)mine better ore/ice (if your a miner) 5) run missions 6) officer/factional spawns.
I'd say though if you can't see point's of being in 0.0 yourself then you probably don't want or need to be there, it requires an entirely different play style to being in empire and if you are still having fun where you are, why move.

I have a feeling you've never been in 0.0 before.
To the OP: Get into a t1 frigate with overdrives and nanos in lows and a t2 mwd; 0.0 is mostly empty of people. The most challenging part of it is actually getting past the first 0.0 system, where there is sometimes a gatecamp.
If you do jump in to a gatecamp: If there is a bubble, If there are only slow ships camping (and no rapier/huggins), run away with mwd on. Otherwise, burn back to gate you jumped in from and jump through (wait out the 30 second session timer first). If not, just warp away. You should be 99%+ chance of surviving with an interceptor with the above methods. Chances will be less with a t1 frigate (slower warp speeds), but you should be fine.
Traveling through 0.0 is kinda like driving a car; It's pretty scary your first time, but once you get used to it, it becomes non-exciting to the point of boredom.
