Disclaimer: **Yes I'm a newbie, no need to remind me of that fact, I'm well aware that I am ignorant to a lot of things in this game. The forums are a bit "ruthless" from what I've seen so far.**
I have a couple of questions:
1. Jita. What is so special about this system. I've been there a few times and I don't see why it attracts hundreds of people at any given time. Market? Missions? Pirating? I don't understand.
2. Convoys. I saw someone blowing up some retailers and trailers outside a station. Now nothing bad happened to this pilot. Me on the otherhand....well, lets just say I found out the hard way what sentry guns are all about. Whats the scoop on these convoys, why could he attack and not I?
3. Where is the best market hub in Gallente space?
4. I am being target jammed alot during missions, but I have no idea on how to counter this. Any suggestions?
5. I saw "Toxic Waste" and "Homeless People" in the market. Why the hell would anyone buy this stuff? Why would Homeless people even be for sell in the first place?? Do people want Homeless People banging metal cups against their pods asking for change or something?

1. Jita is the biggest market hub in eve, that aside there is nothing special about it aside from the fact it’s a lag-fest, due to some nearby gates that link systems far away from the forge region, its fairly easy to get to from anywhere in empire space, its also the centre of trade for all faction items and T2 construction components.
2. Convoys can be shot at provided they are not at the station that they belong to, I used to do this back in my noobie days but I forget how to find that out, show info mabey?
3. probably oursulaert… or diodixie (or however its spelled) because it’s a big mission running hub.
4. ECCM modules or sensor boosters depending on the type of jamming, getting a bigger ship also helps, as bigger ship = more sensor strength and usually longer lock range.
5. errrrr…roleplay reason… no idea. Real reason, back in the ‘ol days you could buy NPC goods, move them somewhere else and re-sell them for profit, I think this is still possible but I haven’t done it for a long time, also some NPC trade goods are also used to fuel POSs (though not toxic waste or homeless people)

The NPC convoys travel from station to station with in that system. To tell if they belong to that current station or not, simply use Look At and see which direction they are moving. If they are flying towards the station, then they are from a different one. However, if there are multiple stations in the same system owned by the same corporation, then they could be traveling from their owners other station. When you shoot on them, you will lose standings from the corporation that owns them, so be prepared for that.

RP reasons are that some places generate toxic waste while others can reprocess it into inert or otherwise useful substances, so there's a trade-route possible. For homeless it's more of a relocation contract, you can buy a contract from those organizations that have a homeless situation, and resell these contracts (hopefully at higher prices) to humanitarian organizations who can get these people back on track, again a trade-route. People don't buy them to have, they buy them to trade between NPC corps.

1. Jita is like Wal-Mart. The checkout lines are long, but you can get every single thing on your shopping list in a single trip. The market station is Jita 4-4 Caldari Navy Assembly Plant.
2. /me shrugs
3. Oursulaert III
4. Don't do Guristas missions. Run missions for Minmatar or Gallente NPC corps. Guristas just suck, they're annoying to fight and their loot and salvage is no good.
5. I like to put Homeless People, Tourists, or Freed Slaves in my cargohold when I go to PVP, because it looks funny on the killmail when I die.
By the way, there's a Rookie Q&A forum which is slightly less ruthless than this one. --- I'm looking for a good 0.0 corp to join. |

The "don't do Guristas missions" reply it the only right one. Player ECM is influenced by your sensor strength/ECCM module, but NPC ECM is a straight chance that each of the jamming ship wills start a jamming cycle and jam you. As happens in most computer games NPC play with different rules than the PC.
If you do Gurista missions learn what ships jam you and kill them as fast as possible when they start jamming. Bring drones and send them to kill the jamming ships, as the ships will jam you and not target the drones, so the will continue to attack even when you are blind.

There are also tourists, exotic dancers, janitors, prostitutes, big jugs of water, cows, **** videos, etc. Not everything has to have some game-play purpose. You can trade those though, but they normally won't give you much of a profit.

As a former HOBO, yes we do ask for spare CHANGE?!?!?!?! I still fly with at least one homeless person in my cargo hold at all times if at all possible. Its good luck. Bored during down time? Try this. |

Don't sweat this part we were all new at sometime.
1) 5 gates lead to this system, and there are probably 15-16 stations, so there is lots of room for people to trade ( which they do) It is very near Lonetrek & the Citadel regions (both with big mission runnings areas) It is not far from 0.0 either for jump freighters and carriers
2. no clue bro...
3. Oursalert is good but bring up your market and look at the regions, then look at minerals, salvage parts and this will give you an idea ( builders need lots of minerals and salvage for T2 Blue prints)
4.Two things...1 an ECCM module attacks the attackers ECM....but another way is a Gravimetric, Ladar, Radar or Magnometric backup arrays....( each race has different Radar types so look at your ship it is down near the bottom of the window about your ship) i.e. Caldari ships use gravimetric so you would want a gravimetric backup array.
5. Someone's trash is someone's treasure. If you are trying to make money hauling stuff around can be mucrative..granted the stuff you mentioned is crap but you might be surprised how much some things go for...i.e. water, livestock etc....robotic parts to name a few.

2. Convoys form up a couple of hundred km from the source station. The first ship flys out and does a racetrack pattern, the second and subsequent ships fly out to meet it. So checking to see if the convoy is flying to or from a station isn't strictly the best way. The convoy will belong to the owners of the station at which it is formed. Once the formation is in order, it will fly to another station in the system. If the station is owned by a different corp to the one it flew from, you can attack. If it's owned by the same NPC corp, you'll be in for a smacking from the sentry guns. For obvious reasons, never attack a convoy while it's forming outside the parent station.
5. Someone who failed and cancelled a mission might have some homeless people left over in their hold. Another person might have been ganked during a similar mission and lost their cargo of homeless people. Thefore the first person has something that the second person could use and a market is formed. The value is in how desperately the second person wants the item and how willing the seller is to offload it.
