Edited by: LaVista Vista on 29/04/2008 05:34:01 Hey there guys!
Finally a section where i can be cool and have a question thread. I hold off from posting it in General Discussion till the CSM forum was running. But here we are!
First of all, welcome to my thread. Please feel free to post questions!
My campaign site is here. My discussion on the state of the economy is here.
As for real life. I am a student from Denmark, with my main interests in computer science and physics. So for the majority of the actual length of the first CSM, i will be able to dedicate quite a good amount of time to CSM, should i be elected.
That is about it for now. I'll expand this post as we go on, but now i gotta get some breakfast and catch up with all these sweet threads that just begs to be answered!
If you wanna contact me, you can either evemail, email or catch me on messenger. My details are on my campaign site!
I appreciate your support guys Cheers. Charlie "LaVista" Eriksen

Well, as i understand it, here's how it goes:
From monday, May 5th, there will be a link on the front-page, and likely also on the login screen, which will take you to the website, where you will be able to vote for 1 candidates(You can vote with several accounts). And people are allowed to vote "Abstain".
The top 9 candidates(Those with most votes) will get a position.
Omber Zombie wrote a nice post of what he wants changed. One of the interesting things i agree with him on, for instance, is that 1 vote isn't enough. We have 2 "groups" of people, the pvp and industry guys. While they might overlap, i would still love to vote for 2 types of candidates, to have both aspects of the game, represented.
But hopefully we will learn something from the first time, and CSM 2 will be even better. I know i will try and make CSM 1 as smooth as possible, if i get elected. And hopefully i will be able to pass on tricks to the people on CSM 2, to keep the success going, if it turns out that way!
But for CSM 2 we will probably see a person have like 3 votes, which they can spread over 3 candidates. That would be nice.

Posting here to show my/our support.
Have had many long talks with LaVista in vent. He has experienced pretty much everything imaginable in Eve from PvP (0.0 and Empire) to industry, as well as a complete understanding on the economic side of things.
He is an intelligent and rational guy who doesn't mind looking at problems from every aspect. I don't think you'll find a better CSM candidate out there. Good luck LaVista, hopefully if you get elected you'll still have plenty of time for some pew pew!

I'll be voting for this homeboy, because he's not zealously for or against any one issue. It means his stances are moderate, non-extreme, and not too crazy. Unlike some others ...

I'll ask you the same question I have asked of similar candidates, specifically those who seem to feel it unnecessary to tell the players anything about your own ideas and opinions.
What would you say to those of us who believe that a candidate's individual opinions give valuable and necessary insight into their thought process? As a CSM representative, you will be required to make choices and decisions on various issues and then vote according to your decision. The players deserve some indication on which way you will lean when faced with these situations, which will be a regular part of your duties as a representative. Not stating an opinion makes it appear as though you either have something to hide, or you are completely uninformed about the current issues in game, or you are just plain indecisive. None of these are very attractive characteristics for a representative.
Your own thoughts and ideas will form an important part of how you weigh arguments and make decisions. Why do you not feel it important for your potential voters to know these ideas?

I fully agree with this. I have discussed it with Jade on a few occassions, and i think it's damn important.
I think while individual opinion is important, it's also important for people to understand why you think so. So I'm trying to take a stance of not just state my opinion, but also create awareness of why the issues happen in the first place, how it manifests and makes a difference for people and why they should care, and how to eventually fix it. That is how i went about writing my first article about the state of the economy. And i have been going hard at providing these kind of conversations on the forums, as well.
I think there is SO much FUD on the forum, that i have been thinking about creating a FAQ for those kinds of things. We keep comming to the same conclusions every time someone asks the same question. So why not get over with it, and make a nice thread which discusses all the issues, why they happen and how to MAYBE fix them(Those would be ideas, CCP should have a say too, as for how they would prefer things, in order to make it possible in terms of mechanics).
EDIT: Rereading your post again, you make it sound like i don't take stances on issues, and that I'm just "the voice of the community", who has no interest. It couldn't be further from the truth. I'm heavily biased, if you are to believe some.

I am fortunate enough to have four accounts. I will be splitting my vote between two worthy candidates for the counsel. One of them is LaVista Vista.
LaVista has committed himself to listening to the player base. He is for improving the life of marketeers. I haven't heard his position on Bacon yet, but I would expect him to be against it.

I have several questions, and taking a page out of Talkuth RelĘs book, I decided to ask each candidate in their own threadą
1)Invention ū A good idea that still needs worką a.Have you ever tried invention? b.What ideas do you have to improve invention?
2)Pilot Security Level ū Should it be more important? a.(In High Sec) ū Should Concord react faster if the victim has a higher security level? If the attacker has a lower rating? b.Should the Security Level of a system affect changes to Pilot Security level changes? c.Should the Security Level of a Targeted Pilot have more of an effect on the security change of the attacker?
3)Industry ū The Creators of Eve a.Do you regularly build anything? b.Do you regularly mine? c.What do you think could be done to improve industry in Eve? d.You have been asked to help with new ships for industrial characters, describe a few ideasą

2.a I see no reason why not. 2.b Yeah 2.c No

Edited by: Silver Night on 03/05/2008 10:28:13 While I definitely feel that you are someone I could vote for, I'm curious: Why should I vote for you over someone like say, Hardin or Omber Zombie? They both combine a lot of experience with a previously established name. Being high profile they have been vetted by a large portion of community and found to be reasonable, intelligent people. Additionally, they seem to have some of the same pros that you do (such as not pushing some specific issue as their entire campaign).
What do you bring the table that would place you ahead of them?
(Honestly I'm having trouble making up my mind between the three of you, though I'm leaning a little toward OZ. After all, if he can't be Gallente President, he can at least get the CSM post as a consolation prize. I think the question is valid for other long term/high profile players held next to (relatively) newer faces.) |

Well, both are very knowledge able guys, and i respect both of those two candidates.
But i have a high amount of experience of the secondary market. I done a lot of work on my bond/ipo's, and helping EBank with about everything possible(Telling, service for customers), and thus i feel that i would do a good job, taking it to the next level.
All of the things i have done to the secondary market, haven't been for personal gains. I lost personal isk on CAP4U in the end, and I never recieved isk from EBank. So I just aim to make a difference in this game. And that is what I would love to change in eve too. Make people able to make a difference, and feel good about it. It's the best experience, in my opinion.
And I'm probably the candidate who's most vocal about the economics of eve. I must admit that i haven't read the others guys manifestos too much though. |

Thought it was about time I throw my full support behind/onto this forum thread.
I will be voting for Lavista Vista, and i'm doing my damndest to get my corp and alliance to vote for him too.
Why you ask?
There are other candidates who may be a little better known or that have been around a little longer than Lavista; but having met some of them both in game and personally, while working on evetv, I can safely say I have not seen a candidate have more passion for the part of the game he enjoys.
Please remember that there are nine members of the council so specific areas of the game can have a member dedicated to it, that is why there are that many on the council.
I would also ask you to remember that those who fail to get elected this time round will most certainly run again, so I'm sure Hardin and Omber zombies time will come, so why not put Lavista in office while he has the time to dedicate himself to this cause.
Thank you for taking time to read this post.

I have been asked a few times what my stance on PvP is. I'll just summarize.
Yeah, I do pvp. I have flown in a few major alliance wars(Redswarm VS LV, IAC VS ISS, IAC VS MC). I have done piracy in Veto. for + year, flew under the banner of privateers with a few corps, etc.
So i have a good experience in many aspects of PvP.
So what is my stance on PvP? Well, it's fairly simple. We need more goals for players to reach and we should encourage small gangs, rather then big gangs.
POS warfare is boring, and I would love to see it revamped. I have read the suggestions Jade has been advocating, with the gate control aspect. And I find that to be really cool.
Also factional warfare is gonna be really cool I think. While the information is lacking at present, the things we could do with it, is just awesome.
But I think that Jade really covers the PvP issues extremely well, so I personally enjoy reading Jade's ideas, and I support about all of it.
So while I might not be the person who comes up with all of this stuff, I DEFINITELY support changing the PvP aspect, away from blobs and POS. It's just not fun!
Also low-sec needs a hand. It's a nice place, but it's just not balanced. I think the ideas of corporation patrolled area(Mini-sov-ish trough gate control, too?) is kinda neat. But I will look forward to further discussion on the subject, in the future.

For what it's worth with me being fairly unknown on the forum's pretty sure i'll be voting for LaVista also.
Only really started to take a small interest when a few candidates started spamming other forums and LaVista seems to have sound idea's and not just little soundbites and vague statements designed to get him elected.
A quick check on his ingame info show's he's active in the game and not just someone in it for a line on his CV like several other candidates seem to have.
One of the things i think are needed is the sorting of suicide ganking, got to just remove insurance for concorded ships plain and simple, anything else would stop it completly and that would be terrible for the game.
Another thing is a overhaul of voting for next time, as we are voting for what is a committee we should vote on every position on it ie 14 seats or whatever not just the 1 vote we got, this leads to a few candidates getting on by their own merit, the rest will be alliance candidates who are assured a block vote. Anyway, support from an unknown

Thank a lot sir, all support is very much appreciated!
But i agree. Even I am in a position which is quite nasty. While I of course would love to see my own aspects of the game, brought into CSM, I also agree with other candidates(For instance, Jade and his pages worth of PvP discussion). So i would love to support people like this, with a vote. But my main interest, of course, is to get my ideas into CSM.
So we really need to be able to vote for at least 3 candidates(1 pvp, 1 carebear and 1 random person), to get onto the council. That would be more in line with the demographics of eve.

As a long time lurker of MD forum, i fully support LaVista, it'll be good to have a proper CSM advocate for the secondary/Out of game Eve features (AKA E-Bank) as well as someone who is willing to spend so much time discussing economic issues in Eve that may not be as obvious to the majority compared to PvP or High-sec Gankage, but are equally as important!
