screw missions im sick of doing these damned missions
i was one of those new kids who wanted to go straight into low/no sec and start pirating right away...but was told by many that i should "do missions first to earn money"
f that ****
i played eve for the risk GIMME MY RISK
so what kind does an idiot like me start out with?
belt piracy? bait piracy? (gank fitting a seemingly mining exequror/osprey) gate camping? can flipping? scamming? (no, screw scamming, its for nancy boys)
what flavor of yarr will best quench the newly resolved pirate with a few isk in his pockets and murder in his heart? q-"WELL WHAT ABOUT THE PIRATE CODE!?"
a-"well they're more like guidelines.." |

Float around in space and look non intimidating in a frigate not commonly associated with death and murder (ie not the rifter). After you take their cans some miners are bound to think they'll give that annoying little guy his what for.
Grab a plated tristan and aim for downing their drones before they get you.

You can't do anything solo when you start other then can flipping(boring), or searching belts where you will only find noobs(crap loot) or other pirates, which are sure to gank a young one like you.
In a pirate corp you will learn from the others and it way more fun anyways

Throw yourself in at the deep end and learn PVP skills from the ground up the traditional way in the belts solo - yes it can be boring but you'll gain invaluable experience and piloting skills which you'll never learn perma-camping a gate with a dozen other clones
Nevermind the "you'll only gank nubs" crap as you'll learn to use the scanner effectively, avoid sentry fire, etc, etc... all experience gained is positive experience despite however many losses you suffer. PVP like your going to lose the ship and you'll wish you had never done anything else
...and above all else, enjoy it - **** it it's only a game let other people take it serious

check the recrutement section and im sure you will find a pirate corp looking to take you in the requitement section of the forum
Do not listen to that, just don't.
I suggest you start out solo and go and look for yourself; the lessons you learn soling will be much better then being spoonfed by a corp that has their own way of doing things, develop your own style, and with the amount of idiots around today you are sure to get a couple of worthy ganks. I would try belt piracy. Just get into lowsec, scan the belts for thoose cruiser that are ratting, warp in, MWD to them, orbit and pew pew away. --------------------------------------------

Personally, I don't think you will regret becoming a belt pirate. Get a good frigate and down some ships. |

Well, I have had nights with no kills. I have had nights with 10 kills. I have earned 30 million on a single ransom, 10 seconds later, I have lost my ship worth 10 million. Belt piracy is a rollercoster, and I love it.
I also count probing mission runners as belt piracy, even tough it isn't in a belt. I don't really do mission probing, but mostly because we haven't been able to succsessfully probe somone out.
we are recruiting!

You haven't mentioned how many SP you have, or in what. Assuming you're still lowish in SP, stick with can flipping and belt piracy. I also recommend going solo for a while, at least until you're proficient in using your onboard scanner and tackling modules. It is difficult to find a pirate corp where the experienced members really do enjoy roaming with noobs and teaching them the ropes. When you do decide to join a corp, make sure there are enough of them online at the same time you play, make sure the corp culture matches your own preferences, and make sure you're able to take part in their kind of piracy (e.g. if they're camping gates but you're flying frigates you won't have fun).

I agree with mosts of the posts above, as I have personally done most of these...
I cut my teeth on canflipping, ransoming and generally bothering Miners and Industrial Corps. It was really invaluable as a training method, as I got to be really good at knowing when to fight and when to run. (I was doing this within the Trial, mostly because I had a buddy who was busy showing me the ropes and teaching me about basic game mechanics.)
I joined a Corp soon thereafter, and there were some fun times when there were wars, mission running (which I never did) and the general camaraderie that makes being in a Corp important. EvE is not a single player game, and this is never more evident than when you are in a Corp.
When I figured I had learned as much as I could from the small Corp, I joined a Corp which had ties to an Alliance. Basically, I found more wars, more opportunity, and less of that 'small Corp' feel that I enjoyed. Sure, you make a few friends, but being the 'little fish in a big pond' gets tired really fast.
When I got bored of taking orders, I left the Corp and flew for a month or so on my own, trying new things like Ninja Salvaging, and I started training some of the important skills I felt I wanted: Astrometrics and scanning support skills, Cloaking, etc.
Now, I've started my own Corporation, dedicated to Ninja Salvaging, Ninja Looting, and Covert Operations. Everybody is required to train for/install Cloaking, and we are slowly but surely getting setup for our Ops. I'm surprised at how fast a Corp can grow, and I'm working diligently to get the Corp Ops up and running in short order, so that we can start making a difference, and hopefully, this keeps our Members interested and excited.
If you're interested, follow the link in my sig. Otherwise, I definitely recommend/endorse most of the suggestions above. Any one of them (Belt Piracy, PvP Corps, etc.) will give you the skills and experience in EvE to find your niche.

As the above have mostly said, the best way to learn the basic tricks is often to pick them up solo roaming about/exploring. I would reccomend starting cheap, frigate/cruiser with cheapish fittings, and buy multiple ships as you will likely lose some learning the tactics/modules that other people use on you.
Most of all.. have fun annoying the hell out of people
