It is a fighter carrier, not a jumpfreighter with a large drone bay.

It wasn't meant to be a ship that you could use both to transport large amounts of goods safely over long distances and fight effectively in. The reason it is able to transport ships to begin with was to it could act as combat logistics, bringing replacement combat ships to the front, not so you could fill the ships up with whatever and haul huge amounts of stuff in that way.
See, with the jump freighter you can do the same thing, but it is just a freighter. You can't fight with it as well. Makes it balanced.

no it doesn't make sense, what they did was justify a new dumb ship and waste resources... nobody flew the carrier loaded with goodies into combat, it had a dual role but they were separate, basically was just a CCP boner. it either flew logistics or flew for combat, and if it tried to do both it would die and the pilot would get made fun of... just a waste or time tbh

A fitting optimized for one role wasn't all that great for the other, but you could still, if you wanted to, do both reasonably well with a single fitting (it just wouldn't be optimal). And in either case, that doesn't matter. It's not like it is particularly difficult to refit. The point is that it is too much usefulness in one ship (one training path, one ship hull bought).
The jump freighter does the same (and a bit more), but you can't refit it and take it into combat and be a great, and very important, combat ship as well. There is a different set of training and a different ship to buy for that.

its a idiotic nerf, and changed nothing.
All we are left with is: cyno ships that cant be stored with ozone. dictors that cant be stored with anchorable bubbles.
Could make a much bigger list, but time to go home form work
