1 day ago a friend joined my highsec pos corp
Tonight I Got above 5.0 Faction Standing, unmodified.
My friend has absolutely no standings with the faction.
My personal standings are at 5.21 (Unmodified) yet my corporation standings are at 4.46
Since my friend doesnt have standings with the faction, and since he has been in corp for less than 7 days, why are the corporate standings lower?
In addition, must I have 5.01 unmodified PERSONAL or CORPORATE faction standings to anchor in highsec?
Thank you

Correct, corp standings are updated at downtime.
EDIT: It's corp standings to anchor. Don't assume bad intent, when stupidity is the much more likely cause. |

edit,
Didn't see unmodified, Friday night drinks must already be kicking in. |

Are you trying to Anchor a Tower ? If so (or whenever), the Corp Standing with the Faction must be 5.0 (for a .5 system) so all members without 5.0 must leave the Corp for 7 Downtimes, at which time the Average Standing becomes 5.0 (or 5.21 in your case as it will be yours if you are the only member, etc.

you're wrong at the bolded part. soon as people leave the corp (well, next DT anyway) the standings will be re-calculated. They changed that a while ago... (old mechanic was as you state) |

1. Standings are updated after downtime. 2. Standings are still required for low-sec Signature removed, CCP Phantom |

#2 used to be true up until about a year ago. Towers in 0.4 used to require charters, for instance. Both the standing requirement and charters were removed for 0.4 and below.

This was still true about the 7 DT's when anchoring my Tower in Oct 2011. I must call for a quote from an EVE Wiki or Dev Blog reference; as 1/2 hour of googling yields nothing.

Here you go:
Quote: NPC faction to player corporation standings are important to join factional warfare militias. Its also important in order for the corporation to anchor POS in 0.5 to 0.7 empire space.
NPC factions/corps standings toward a player corporation are calculated in this way:
You take the standing (without skills included) of each corporation member (towards the NPC entity in question) on an active subscribing account, add them all up and then divide by the number of members that have the standing already in their character sheet. The ones who do not have a standing towards the entity are not taken into account. The standings will update to the avarage after every downtime.
It is also worth noting that members standings towards NPC corps do not begin to affect their global corp standing towards the relevant NPC corp until they have been a member of their current corp for at least 7 days.
Taken from here -- http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Standings_mechanics
Keep in mind that the standings get "stuck" a lot ... so you'll possibly need to clear your cache or run a storyline sometimes.
The old mechanic was this (or close enough, anyway) -- "If the corp standing changes, then over the course of a week, start moving the standing by one-half the difference between the current standing and the calculated standing average". Yes, technically you'd never actually get there, so the 7th day didn't necessarily follow that math (or rounding error took care of it)
So, if you had 5.00 standings, and started a new corp, your corp standing would move like this (after completing a storyline) DT 1 - 2.5 (0+((5 - 0)/2)) DT 2 - 3.75 (2.5+((5-2.5)/2) DT 3 - 4.375 (3.75+((5-3.75)/2) (more days) DT 7 -- 5.00
If you went from 5 to 2.5 standing (you brought someone in with 0.01), it worked the same way: DT 1 - 3.75 ( 5 + (2.5 - 5)/2) (days) DT 7 -- 2.50
Rather than change daily, the new mechanic doesn't even bother changing including someone in the calculations till they've been in the corp for a week. So, if you had 5.00 standings, and started a new corp, your corp standing would move like this (after completing a storyline) DT 1 - 0 DT 2 - 0 (more days) DT 7 -- 5.00
If you went from 5 to 2.5 standing (you brought someone in with 0.01), it works the same way: DT 1 - 5 DT 2 - 5 (more days) DT 7 -- 2.50
as a sidenote -- while I suppose that the "clear the cache" method noted here works, I have never tried it. I always just blitz a storyline's worth of L1 missions to get the standings thing working... (old habits die hard, and all) |

Wow. Thanks for finding that. A shame that those without standings still have to leave for the day though, etc. Kind of a bother. I wonder if CCP is open to a change ? Should anyone besides the CEO and his standings really matter for Anchoring ? Maybe those who are negative should leave ? Just musing................ OMG He Spent His Free-áAURUM ! remove POS from hisec .
Really, it's just over DT, so you could have everyone in the corp (with bad standings) at 10:50 ET, have them drop by 10:55, wait out DT, and then come back in at 11:30.
It makes sense that the average corp standings matter -- you're supposed to be working as a team *FOR* the faction you want to set up other facilities in. I.E. the ability to set up POS in hisec is a "bonus" for being on good terms with the bureaucrats. |

That would reset their time in corp and they would be 7 days before their standing would affect the corp again. Then at down time thier standings should not be counted. |
