Some corpies and I are pounce-camping a high sec gate when our scout yells "retriever!". We drop back onto the gate and pop him as he jumps in. No suprises there right?

Because it was my first. Cut me a break, 2 years of pvp and this is the first time I've got a kill with more than 50m in loot on it =)

Good vs Luck mate. I've had 50:1 kill death ratios with assloads of battleships on the kill side. I've just never lucked out in getting a faction fitted kill before, or at least not directly recieved isk from it (a few with BloodBlind and Phalanx that i never saw a dime from =P)
That and I've never run in huge ass camps, or run high sec mission ganks of any variety.

Done it three times (for 3 months, 3 months and a month and a half), and my definition of fun is NOT running around with 20+ people waiting for a black screen of death. Thanks though.

pick targets more carefully.. just fly about with a alt and find a route where people are taking short cuts through low sec etc with high value trade goods etc. Also try and find somewhere that isn't currently pirated, that way the haulers will be even more full with good stuff.
you can usually spot these people as they fly transports and v fast warping haulers.. then it's just a case of using a HIC or multi point BC and kill em
you'll be surprised how easy it is to pop yourself a bill isk hauler.. if you focus on these kind of players only you can easily make a few bill a week, certainly generates isk faster than most 'non carebear' activites in eve.
actually popping high value combat ships is pretty rare these days.. unless some fool has wandered into low sec with a pimped cnr :), t2 loot is now worthless so just not worth the hassle
top tip: don't fly in large gangs to kill these targets, fly with a corp m8 or solo if you can use a 2nd account for scouting. this way you keep loot split to a min..

But yeah, thanks for the tips. The thing is, I often just don't care. I just like running around fairly casually and getting kills. Also, a big part of my enjoyment of EVE is brining up new players from square one to competence, and I've done my best to work at that since I first started pirating, culminating in my current corp (see my signature if you're curious) and the isk is honestly not that important. Not to mention that I can't dual account with my crappy gaming setup (no easy cure for RL poorness...)
Although a bit of isk is nice now and then.

like you I dont care for isk anymore.. I used to just try and rake in the dosh so I could get faction pvp ships / dreads / carriers, that was a goal I set myself... ended up with quite a collection, but they all blew up one by one. :)
now I just can't be arsed tbh.. currently back in game just shooting stuff for the fireworks and tears

ok, nice kill, but you didn't say how old this character was. If he was like 3 years or something, that 300m kill isn't really an Ebay kill...on the other hand, if he was 1 month old, that would be an Ebay kill.

sometimes the ebay's and such are just blatant, while in duripant picking up another skill yesterday a fed mega was loitering at the st, checked him out and the char was only just a month old. Shame the p*** pot refused to accept my challenge.
Why dont they do summat about it when its so blatant.

Or you know, it could be an alt of a guy with lots of money. Petitioning every person you think has a nicer ship than they should is pretty, well, stupid. |
