There are a number of 0.0 comsos constellations in the game.
Each of those has a respawning radar exploration site that hodl unique and essential materials for booster production (as well as good loot).
These sites are perfectly normal on all counts and mainly serve as an example of some unintended effects of payer behaviour and competition. This site does not despawn untill all players have left it.
The problem:
These sites are farmed. (no thats not it, farmers can be dealt with, that's the good part about exploration compared to the old post-dt respawn complexes requiring keys for every gate).
The actual problem:
You can cloak in the first level of each of these complexes. This prevents despawn and respawn. This denies anyone the opportunity to compete for the next respawn (more or less immediately after it is finished it respawns elsewhere). As such, anyone that wants to farm these simply puts an alt in the first room untill he is ready to scan out a respawn elsewhere and has checked that the competition for it is absent. Untill that time, he denies the content to everyone else so that they either must wait him out, or give up. There is no way other then being in the same system with him to keep tabs on wether or not he has left the site and allowed it to respawn elsewhere.
Solution: - increase the size of the dust clouds in all exploration site rooms without instant NPC aggro to dover the whole grid. (or dissalow cloakign in these rooms by other means. IF someone wants to compete for these sites, then let them, but at the very least allow a recourse.

one of my personal fantasies is no cloaking in deadspace. it'd be nice if there were at least a few places in eve where you had to either stand and fight or get the **** out, as opposed to these childish games where you cloak up and out-wait your opponent....

Small sidenote here.
Doing this also allows virtual monopolies on booster production. Booster bpc's come from these sites (and these sites only afaik, especially the improved ones).

Yeh because people farming them really care about booster BPCs and they just ignore the fact that those plexes tend to drop BS sized a-type modules (same as 9/10 DED plexes would).
As for solution: 1. remove deadspace modules drops from them (it should drop only booster stuff and not be "piniata style" money printing machine) 2. limit its respawn

Wouldn't that fall under griefplay, and may even be petitionable? |

yes hes right. the plex drop about 3 bil a day if you do it right.
its about a monopoly position that eastern europeans hold to farm for isk. they stay in the plex cloaked holding everyone else from doing the plex by blocking it totaly.
there is no real solution for this in game. i was one of the leading plexers in my ex ally and i defended the ally asset verry well. but agianst these farmers i cant do anything. they stay cloaked in the plex every day. i cant shoot them when they are cloaked thats my main problem.
stoping them from cloaking in plex doesnt help. they just move out of grid and hide there. best thing to do is to despawn the plex! and maybe what the tri guy says do not drop 3 bil a day in the plexes !!!

also i have petitioned a few of them but generaly ccp does nothing about farmers. they pay for the game like everyone else. what happens with the isk they dont care. and also becouse the alts they use for keeping the plex and cloaking do not speak english. tho on the forum half a year ago they seam to speak english way beter then me. 100% sure the account changed owner.
at the moment if u want isk the cosmos constelation is the place to be. it drops 3 bil a day. if i was a real money trader i would know where to be :P

0. Unpin these plexes from specific constellations. Exploration intended to be available for all players, and now we see how one group getting advantage from rule-breaking exclusions. |

This would work too. But IMO plex that drops 9/10 DED type loot but has difficulty of 5/10 plex is already a sign something is WRONG. |

I petitioned this behaviour too, the gm just closed the petition without answering the question wether or not this was harassment.
And booster related loot only would utterly make this plex suck. Boosters are worthless atm. Only the very best (exile) get used occasionally, but even those only a few pilots bother with.
9/10 is over the top yes. 6/10 would be better. But before asking CCP to totally redo them all, let's make it simple for them and ask them to chance one single statistic in their DB about these plexes: dust cloud radius. At least it'd finish off the isk farmer(s) and let everyone compete more or less fairly.

wow, what an incredibly lame tactic.
you could try to out lame them until CCP fixes things.
For example, theres usually some "macro ratters" nearby where i usually hang out. When im ready for a break from the game for a bit, I find one, first try in vain to catch him in a belt, then when the macro invariably logs out, i safe up and cloak. I then eat and maybe watch a dvd, with eve open in the background to watch as the macro logs in and then out cause im still there.
thus, afk cloak in the constellation to prevent the farmer from allowing the site to despawn, since he thinks you will try to scan it out. |

Only thing wrong with these plexes is that you don't realy have to fight much to farm them.
Other than that I feel it's okay to have at least some level of "static" to them.
Obviously the cloud that prevents cloaking should be increased and maybe a "pulse" or grid-size smarbomb could be set every minute or so to decloak the cloakers. |

Well, actually due to its popularity and limited location variability it's just about the only exploration site competed for actively in most cosmos areas of Eve afaik.
At any time, the two constellations I frequent will have anywhere between zero and four scanning teams searching for it at the same time.
There'as a nice and fairly obvious trick to making sure your competition never gets more then say five minutes head start if they get an early result on their quest probes. Effectively it means that every one out of say three runs can be actively contested if you can and wish to, if you're competing for finding it first with others.
Inside the plex no keys are needed except for the final gate. So again, fairly good competitive possibilities.

6/10 guris (pithum atype) is worth way more than 9/10 (pith atype). Same with 6/10 gistum (gistum atype 10mn MWD anyone?). So yeah - boost "rewards" even further.

That is your answer. if the GM find a petition under "Harassment" that they feel is not harassment they close it without replying.
Try opening a new petition under "Exploit" explaining the problem. Reply will be slower than under harassment, but they will reply. |
