When selecting--or forming--a corporation, is it relevant whether you stick with your own race? Obviously, if you are into RP, this question can be answered in any number of ways. But I'm wondering about logistics and the like. Are there advantages to being in a corp that is predominantly composed of one's own race? Or does a mix of races ensure optimal versatility in combat? And what about the market--does moving far outside one's home (Empire) space make it more difficult or inconvenient to purchase your race's technology?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated... thanks for your input in advance.

When I formed this corporation we were purely Minmatar, it worked out great for a few months. Logistics was a breeze and we were very effective in combat.
Then people started fitting racial ECM against us and it was a real pain since they could spec for one type and be 100% effective.
For that one purpose alone we had to start getting other races in the corp, also recruiting became much easier.

I kind of figured the kind problems Gen. Spaz describes might occur in a single-race corporation. No advantage in inbreeding, I suppose.

Not totally true, actually. PIE inc. does not recruit non-amarrians and they've done quite fine, one of the oldest Eve corporations I might add.
My own corporation refuses to recruit gallente, albeit we have 2 who got in before the complete ban on gallente recruitment.
If you stick to one race there are the ups and downs. Corp production can be easier and simpler, but as the gentleman before me mentioned, there are considerations for combat. However, isn't that realistic? Winning isn't everything...

When you say stick to your own race... do you mean the character, or the ship type?
Just because you are Gallente, doesn't mean that you have to fly gallente ships. My PVP alt flys gallente and is a Caldari bloodline (achura).
You can get around the whole racial ECM thing if you fly another race's ships.

Imperal Dreams, the executor corp for CVA are also Amarr only. Never stopped them. My own corp doesn't recruit Gallente. They basically make no sense RP wise however you spin a character's story.
But from an RP perspective, you can get much more interesting character's and stories than if you stick to keeping all the same race arguably.
Not flying different races ships can be self gimping, though usually there are ways around that if you're inventive. It does help if all of a corp or alliance are setup for either shield or armor tanking to make things easier for logistics ships / remote repping

Why only fly one race when you can fly many, and switch tactics? doing otherwise would be rathar futile, and boring. |

Gallente have french ancestry, suck at war & pvp as such.

It's nice from a storyline perspective to stick to one race. In PVP it can be tricky as one fighting your corp (if the corp rules are also applying to ships) can devise simple tactics (from racial ECM to ammo type, fittings etc) to kill you fast.
But you can get only Amarr folks inside that are able to fly other ships. So you'll have an Amarr only corp but will be able to be safe from the PVP perspective.
This char of mine, for example, is Caldari, but it can fly all HACS and CS at lvl 5 from all races. It's quite versatile and fun |

Incorrect. As has already been said, PIE operates Amarr-only rules for membership and ship-types.
as i recall PIE used to be part of CVA, you had plenty of non-amarr alliancemates, not really "sticking with your own" if you fly around with the other races in gangs all the time. but it's true the Amarr have always been a bit more discriminating than the Matari..
I don't think Imperial Dreams fly only Amarr shiptypes (hello rapiers ;O), so I guess PIE's the only corp I know of that takes it that far. |
