Most excellent BRUCEs:
This will be my last address to you as Executor.
May as well get that out of the way as early in the address as possible. For almost exactly two years now (counting from the date we began actual recruitment for BRUCE, not from the date it was really founded), BRUCE has been at the core of my thoughts, at the center of my actions, foremost in my concerns. In that entire two years, I have taken exactly one week off from posting, piloting, praising and prodding - I got married.
I am, I must admit, tired. Lately the question has been asked - and rightfully so - why we have been sitting back, reacting slowly, not taking the offensive, etc. The question is a fair one, and the answer is simple: your leader is spent. BRUCE continues on, though, and your successor will be announced in the next day or two, and this person will no doubt lead a great charge to recapture that which has been lost, and restore BRUCE to road of glory it was trodding down.
FOOM will be taking another road; the corporation, like its leader, must now take another path. Rest assured that we will never turn our guns towards BRUCE, and that our future may very well cross paths with yours again. You may safely assume that wherever FOOM travels, the name of BRUCE is still defended. Quite a few members of FOOM may wish to remain when we depart; I have no doubt that the corporations of this alliance will welcome them to their new homes. It may be that a few of you wish to follow where FOOM is going, but our path for the future is going back to Empire, and there, to settle some very old scores and bathe in blood of long-remembered debts. It is not a road for any but the aggressive and violent BRUCE, and even then, we will be taking very few with us. I would encourage you to stay.
BRUCE has long been accused of being a cult of personality. While this is a flattering notion to me, I reject it. BRUCE is a cult of a different sort - a cult of ideology. That ideology - that miners, traders, missioners, and pvp'rs stand shoulder to shoulder, that we help each other because we should, and that a culture of NOT being vile whenever you can - lives on. The idea of the BRUCE: studied, cautious, clever, quick to avenge and long to ally, lives on. The founding principles of BRUCE live on in you, the member. Every time a pilot stands up for themselves, every time a pilot gives a ship to another because they need one, every time a favor is done just because it could be - BRUCE becomes more of a cult of ideology. BRUCE is far greater than one man; certainly far greater than this one.
Hard times are ahead. I am not the one to lead you through it. The road, though, is clear, and the direction will be given. Know your Reps still watch out for you, and that the new Executor will have all the charisma, character, and cleverness you have come to know. I fully expect that BRUCE will come to secure all of Fountain in due time, and PL - like 9th Fleet, like Huzzah, like ExM, like OSS, all of whom seemed insurmountable foes once - will be ground under the heel of the BRUCEian behemoth, and become yet another foe smashed under BRUCE's might. New commanders will rise; new leaders will point the way. New fleets will be generated, and new ideas followed. Greatness still stands on the horizon for BRUCE. I have no doubt that the new leader, so named, will address you all in a day or two.
But for me, the chair grows cold, the sceptre heavy, and the crown uncomfortable. My time is done. I have no doubt that FOOM and BRUCE will cross paths again, and no doubt that I will once again come to know you all, but for now, if you may forgive the misquotation:
The Parrots and their leader are all shagged out from a prolonged squawk, and we pine for the fjords.

So Freidrick completely fails to rally his alliance to effectively defend their space, loses his carrier and quits the alliance in a sulk, ripping the heart out of BRUCE just at the moment they need stability the most? BRUCE deserved better than a tl;dr post full of empty platitudes followed by him making a bolt for the door the moment things stopped going his way.
Never has a personality cult been constructed on such a flimsy house of cards.

Seriously though, lots of people quite liked BRUCE, for various reasons. But then you started taking in entire corps from failed alliances like ISS and RISE, and this was after bob had pillaged those corps of anything even remotely useful.

I wish BRUCE the best of luck in the near future. Your alliance has a great idealogy, however in Eve 0.0, you need more than just that.
I sincerely hope the remaining leaders can keep the alliance together, and imo, that entails honesty and ego-checking. You've made your bed, and now you are being forced to sleep in it on the wrong side of the spoon. Admit and learn from your mistakes. Don't delude your members or you won't have an alliance left to hold together.

In all seriousness:
I'll confirm everything in the OP. It's true, and I have no shame in it. I'm immensely proud of where BRUCE has gone - from a noob anti-pirate corp in Aeschee, growing up as a major power in Syndicate, and then controlling the lion's share of Fountain. Say what you like about how we got everywhere we did - we did it. Us, an alliance founded and run by people who've been playing for two years. (Truth - check Friedrick's start date.)
I'm personally tired and worn out. Running an alliance for two years does that to you. My successor will step up, and they'll accomplish great things, and they'll move on. BRUCE is a cult of ideology, but there's a lot more to it than that. They'll be fine when FOOM leaves - and I'm sure they'll be here to be smacked on by you folks for a long time to come, as you daily talk about how they're falling apart and noobs and not going to make it and so on....
BRUCE made it this long. They'll make it quite awhile longer.

Long live the Coo Coo. Fried although i have spent a limited amount of time in BRUCE, it has changed my eve experience forever. This is the first time I have had a positive sec rating. The first time i've had friends and family to rely upon. Hell, the first time i've felt like i've belong somewhere. I just want to thank you for everything you have done.

Ok, I'm going to call it like this:
1) BRUCE suffers leadership vaccuum, apparent when they cannot muster fleets or organize ops against serious threats.
2) BRUCE begins to lose POS fights, and due to their lack of allies (lol cloud ring) and lack of sov 4 systems their territory comes under seige very quickly.
3) BRUCE failure cascades with PVPers leaving for BoB or TRI, carebears going to various rental/pet alliances, and a few die hard players fleeing to syndicate with the obligatory "we're finally free from POS" announcement.
4) BoB does a clean sweep and POS spams key systems, taking the region back.
It may be that BRUCE's last contribution to the coalition will be to distract the BoB logistics team for a couple weeks.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'll have to voice my opinion anyway. I fear we may be letting our own pride prevent us from seeing a pragmatic end to this situation.
A short trip down memory lane....When I joined FOOM, back in Aeschee, you guys had just finished negotiating terms for peace with TBSV. They demanded "peace money" I think on the order of 200m. I read the transcript of how that decision was made. I knew it couldn't have been easy for a young but yet somewhat proud corp to swallow that pride and pay. Yet you did(well I think Trayk did out of his own wallet), and frankly FOOM has done nothing but prosper since. Sure we had to fight many other hostile forces/wardecs even in our little corner of Aeschee, but not having to worry about TBSV gave us some breathing room.
I know the decision to go back to Aeschee is final. But I still want to see Bruce survive and succeed. I think perhaps sitting down with PL again and see if some common ground can be reached, may well be worthwhile.
BRUCE is too young to be faced with this. And with MC folding, well...I don't think it's a stretch to see Bob coming next. If PL can help defend Fountain, well they would be well worth the moons, more so than MH and even MM. To be quite honest.
They have been fairly logical with their stance. I hate to say it, but MH was NOT contributing ANYTHING to Fountain defense once they pulled out. Honestly, how much DID we owe them?
PL saw an opportunity and they grabbed it. Who wouldn't? Heck we saw an opportunity with RISE/USOH and we grabbed it too. Did we warn them first, before taking their outpost?
I'm sure we can dissect things and find reasons to hate PL. But I'm hoping maybe we can find a more pragmatic solution to this that still allows BRUCE to remain in Fountain, at least until Bob comes a knocking.
Some breathing room, as well as the sense of urgency to improve, may be what we need to save Bruce. Maybe not with FOOM in the picture, but I'd like to see us leave Bruce in a decent position.
I don't know...All this "OMG You guys insulted us FIRST!" bravado, I think, is really clouding our judgment. Or maybe I'm just a softie... |

My advice is to give the alliance 2 or 3 days at least to hash out who will succeed FP while FP is still in charge to keep some order. It is likely to be painting furniture on the Titanic, but BRUCE deserves that at least.
To be clear, I don't mean to banter about observations/accusations of others' faults with no recognition of my own. I admit many, but I also never had any desire to run a corp, much less a multi-thousand pilot alliance. The preceeding is simply my .02 on what would have been a salvation to BRUCE - appointing a worthy successor before FP went away. I mean no ill-will to any of the above - except Zim, who is just a *****.

I look forward to this new venture and look forward to having more time for my wife and child in RL. I look forward to racing my R1 on the vegas track and not being affraid of a raid or POS mails in my mail box. I look forward to less to no drama. I look forward to a omgwtfbbq lvl 5 mission. I love this game but it was losing its luster due to posts like this. We all play this game for the fun well atleast I do and that and I know alot of BRUCE does. Bruce no matter what to all alliences out there has shown respect to everyone from the day of being built. There are a few lose tungs but how can you controle all 3k+ players on there thoughts. You guys wish to see Bruce gone but then think of how you will miss the allience for the fun PvP you can get from them. Enjoy this game instead of trying to destroy it and people. There are far worse things to tend to like trying to keep your car fuel topped off at 4.00 a gallon or home forclosure. |

Friedrick Psitalon - thanks for everything you did for Bruce and the whole community behind the alliance. You creativity, great vision and way of leading will be well known to everyone who had the great opportunity to work with you. You and your Choo choo will be missed. Timing could have been better to annunce this but guess what the Goons beat you anyway and no one is perfect.
The Bruce idea will however life further. Alliances and Corporations aren't made by one or around one person: they are about the normal pilots ... fellow Bruces. We fight, we die, we do mistakes, we learn from them and get back stronger then ever before. The experience under FPs command will again give us a lot of positive and some negative things to think aboutand and try to improve in the future.
Ahead of Bruce there is a new era. Bruce is not limited to our space, region or to some pilots. It's an ideology, a belief that a community of players working together to achieve greater good and goals bigger then them. We try to improve every single day and this is not the end ... it's just the beggining of a new era ahead of us, Bruces.
Repect and good luck to FP and FOOM.

The work Friedrick Psitalon had done to build up BRUCE was nothing short of incredible. There are not many examples of an alliance so successfully built up from its modest origins in low-sec. Although you are leaving BRUCE, we shall take good care of her in your absence. The BRUCE spirt lives. You have taught us that Eve can be played without resorting to password/forum hacking and mindless smacking, and yet with some pride. That was certainly something worth doing.

Insurmountable? Hardly... Underdogs? Yes.
I had an awesome time in EXM, some great people in there, and I'd love to fly with them again some time! Bruce were fun to fight as well, we had some good times, and I hope this isn't the end of not only a great alliance, but a great community of EVE pilots! Good luck to the BRUCES! |

I'll confirm everything in the OP. It's true, and I have no shame in it. I'm immensely proud of where BRUCE has gone - from a noob anti-pirate corp in Aeschee, growing up as a major power in Syndicate, and then controlling the lion's share of Fountain. Say what you like about how we got everywhere we did - we did it. Us, an alliance founded and run by people who've been playing for two years. (Truth - check Friedrick's start date.)
I'm personally tired and worn out. Running an alliance for two years does that to you. My successor will step up, and they'll accomplish great things, and they'll move on. BRUCE is a cult of ideology, but there's a lot more to it than that. They'll be fine when FOOM leaves - and I'm sure they'll be here to be smacked on by you folks for a long time to come, as you daily talk about how they're falling apart and noobs and not going to make it and so on....
BRUCE made it this long. They'll make it quite awhile longer.

Even if BRUCE falls apart, it'd be nice to have something to fall back on.
Please discuss concrete, real, immediate solutions.

Morsus was one of the few Coalition Alliances to remain Blue with Bruce..why because they acted honorably..At the frst hint of failure the Goons immediately began whining about Bruce..Face the Truth Goons you had nothing to do with Bruces successes in fountain accept to provide a minor and temporary distraction and now you insist on going to any lengths to make Bruce pay for your Epic failure,

Because getting the easily distracted Goonies annoyed at you and potentially causing them to shift from SMASH to you is really a good idea.
