I read some time ago an idea to have a "sovereignty pos" that would be anchored at a planet. These would be solely responsible for maintaining sovereignty in a system and normal moon poses would no longer have any sov role. They would be somewhat stronger then large poses and an alliance would need to control the majority of the planets in a system to maintain sovereignty. To the person who first had this idea i give props.
Now, to expand on this idea i propose a system be put in place that only allows the placing of a sovereignty pos if the controlling corp / alliance has sovereignty in a neighboring star system. Along the same lines, a sovereignty pos may only be attacked if the attacker has sovereignty in a neighboring system. This keeps everyone to a specific territory with a defined border and "front lines" for wars. Regular posses could still be used for jump bridges etc, so that part of the game would remain unaffected.
In order for a corp / alliance to become a sovereign entity they would need to either claim sovereignty in an unclaimed system or declare war on a sovereign alliance and at that point would be able to attack a border system of that alliance.
Titans would need to be revamped as well. My idea for this is to give them 7 turret / launcher hardpoints and allow them to fit a titan siege module. DoomsDay devices would need to be removed, but the mothership ecm burst could be made to fit on a titan as well. This would basically turn the Titan into a super dreadnought with 4 to 5 times the damage potential of a normal dread which would make it the perfect weapon for killing sovereignty poses! This would bring the titan back in line as still the most powerful ship in the game, but not the red "i win" button of eve. It would also give them a much better tanking ability making them ideal for capital warfare which is essential for maintaining and expanding sovereignty.
Just my thoughts, i hope everyone will expand upon them. Feedback please! |

hmmm... over 100 views and no reply...
Either its a terrible idea and people simply close the page in disgust, or its an amazing idea and everyone is simply left speechless. I going for the later. |

Edited by: z0de on 04/05/2008 01:22:52 It's because you type alot but don't say much and when you do its a massive change (dd removal) which has been discussed better before (currently a 20pager up). It's also a topic a large population of eve know little to nothing about, myself included. So we open, go "lol text" and close the thread.
hope you get some posts from people who know about it thought. |

I would imagine, if you do not have sovereignty you can place a tower or attack a tower anywhere.
Sounds good. I like it.

CCP are trying to split up targets to remove blobbing, thats the main problem I see with this, you are encouraging a single goal/grid which is going to cause a lot of lag and be boring with just a bigger pos. ---------------------------------
Oh noes!
