Some parts of EVE are so useful, the sole existence in EVE would be impossible without them, like the exploit called LOCAL CHANNEL... now u really... u are 60 AU from a gate and u know it;s being used...yeah right...u got a partnership deal with the gate company? ehm... Then some people with quality common sense come up with a decent idea, let's call it BACON atm... why not get an audio announcement of people entering our system, without unnecessary lagg? Does it hurt anyone? NOPE... Is it good for players? YEP!... CCP should really think of their customers just a tad bit more... First of all... Not everyone can afford 30" screens just so they can be able to have 50 chat channels open and still keep a square mile of free space just for view of local space... not everyone can afford a NVidia 9800GTX(or whatever it's called)-a bare few of us can... I was able to play EVE just fine long time ago...the graphics were amazing for me year or more ago, and even then we had HUGE lagg mind rapes... Premium graphics? OMG so sweet...I love it...more lagg? HELL YEAH, why not?... I've had a corp mate completely unable to play EVE due to this "upgrade" to EVE... he asked for reimbursement of his period, was completely ignored and ridiculed... Are the customers not meant to be treated with respect and be acknowledged for their time and money invested in this beautiful game we have right here? Walking in stations? I don't need that... EVE is about space, and it's lagged to hell there already... Is this gonna help us? NOPE! more lagg? YEP! Recently I have givem my computer a "much needed boost"- I have upgraded my RAM from 1GB of infineon or something to 2GB of Kingston RAM... EVE is almost completely the same for me, i got barely 2-3 FPS increase compared to my previous memory amount... Don't spend your time destroying the good efforts made by player community, but spend time fixing errors made from your side and trying to listen to the most reported problems by the players... one example... the giant secure cans anchored in space...takes years to stack/sort the items in them...fixx that..undocking from stations... remove the delays and blackscreens that leave u in your pod 20 jumps away from the place u were in just few seconds ago...(or minutes-the time needed to get a normal view of the surrounding space after undocking). Please ... help us, don't make the game harder to cope with every single day that u keep introducing "improvements..." _________ yet another rant...

If anything, it's posts like this that are destroying the "good efforts made by player community", because they really make the community look worse than the entire WoW-crowd. Agor Dirdonen	Posted - 2008.05.04 09:16:00 - [9] In my opinion, it's not so much the main functionality of BACON that made CCP ban it, it's the other things you can do with it with just a simple modification. It's easy to modify the program to a) monitor traffic with cloaked afk alts in different systems for 23/7 and store the results in a common database. There is nothing you can do against this. b) automate log-off or cloak procedures when someone enters local while you're ratting in hostile territory c) ... These are the things CCP doesn't like and for that reason it is considered an exploit.

Technically they could ban people for it's use since it is a 3rd party program that is giving players an advantage over others. If they kept BACON private, I wouldn't care. But since they made it public, then you know CCP will do something to stop it. Look at the whole issue with certain alliances altering EVE to show standings instead of portraits in local before. What happened then? CCP changed it so standings showed up next to the name in chat channels.

So, basically, you're blaming CCP for your computer sucking, and for making a game with good graphics, and demanding that they let you cheat because you don't know how to win without cheating... This topic is truely a wonderful example of complete and utter failure.
