The Itty V is generally thought of as the best industrial.. Is there a "best freighter"? Or perhaps such an exceptional transport ship that everyone goes for that one on the way to freighters that are approximately equal?
Not sure if EHP differences in freighters are looked at a bit more than cargo space or whatnot.
Any advice would be appreciated. :)

the charon has the highest cargo capacity... that's pretty much it for freighters. lots of people go for the obelisk, because it has the second-highest capacity, and you're basically there skill-wise if you can fly an itty 5

On quick glance it looks like the Amarr transport ships are the best one.(and superior to the Itty V in high sec if you expand it out) .. Then again maybe people looking to pilot a freighter usually dont have use for a Transport?

Actually, nothing can compare to a fully rigged Iteron V.
Here are the max possibles: Impel (Amarr Transport): 39,436 Occator (Gallente Transport): 38,663 Iteron V (Gallente Industrial): 41,847
The extra rig slot is killer, since it gives 15% cargo space.
I do however prefer the Occator as the <800 m3 loss is offset by the 2nd mid (MWD/AB + Shield Harder). And I would never fly an Iteron V fitted like that, because the rigs put the ship at frieghter level costs, all for 2-3k more m3.
A more realistic set of fittings involve only T1 rigs, and can be found roughly by taking 10% off the above numbers (But again, even at this level, the cost put into an Iteron V is so great that its paper thinness is killer)

i trained amarr ones.
Impel has the highest cargo for t2 transport
Prorator is the coolest looking(think its one of the fastest ones into warp... 2x nano and 2x istab fit)
Providence is the coolest looking one :P ---------------------------------- Yes... this is my main. Extreme Troll Slayer...

Off topic,
but what this game needs is something between indy/transport and freighters. Perhaps even two ships between them.
Sure the new one is an "in between" cargo wise, but with the jump drive it's still up with freighters, and even past freighters skill-wise.
I think alot of people would appreciate something with 200-400k m3 without the need for jump drive skilling.
At least the lack of a decent size transport ship below freighters is what made me quit as a hauler and rather start killing people instead.
The but in the equation might be that people could "farm" entire roid belts without the need to go back to the station at all, thus making the stripmining of belts much more widespread. You could just park one or two "mid size" cargo ships in the belt, fill them up, then set course for whichever station you have the best standing with for refining.
This might actually not be a bad thing and might encourage more mining ops, but if it was a big problem you could just make the midsize cargoships not being able to enter belts just like freighters today. -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |

After you lose your precious itty5 rigged, kitted and full of cargo the first time to a suicide gank you will want to go transport ship. There is no safe space anywhere.

Read my post, I said Itty 5 cannot be beat in cargo space, not that it was a good idea
Jump Freighters are above Freighters even though they hold less, they are akin to Blockade Runners, less space, greater survivability. That Jump Drive is beutiful for bypassing gate camp though
I don't think this game needs a mid-size freighter, sure the cost is big, but anything bigger than a Trasport ship/Industrial would need to be boycotted from in-space interaction due to breaking mining. (And although it seems like a good idea now, just think how much more potent you would be if you could run 5 Hulks for 2 hours without going to the station)
