I've just been playing with this and they all pretty much come out the same choosing Industry - Prospector careers and specialisation.
For instance you can have a Caldari achura ready with
Mining 5 Refining 5 Mining Foreman 4 Scordite processing 2, Pyroxeres processing 2 and veldspar processing 4
and if balanced right he will have
Char 3 Int 10 Mem 12 Perc 10 Will 10
You can play around with it but like I said they all pretty much come out the same. -- eve-guides.com All about POSs, Outposts, Exploration, Mining, Invention, EVE Database + much more!! |

If you are planning on mining in frigates and cruisers while you train for barge then Caldari is the best choice as they have the best mining frig and cruiser (bantam and osprey respectively). If you are going to be a mining alt that is funded from outside and are going to sit in station training skills until you are in a barge, then it really doesn't matter.

Like almost all other paths in EVE; the Caldari Achura is your best bet. _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony

frankly, achura really doesn't make any appreciable difference (something less than 2 days over the course of a year if you don't lose any training time to anything else), and the 3 in cha will really hurt if you train learning skills.
Caldari is probably the best though because their mining ships (including the rokh, even though it doesn't get any ship bonuses) can fit an additional mining laser upgrade more than the other races mining ships.

Choose a race for the STATS, not for the initial skills. If you want a long term plan choose your career to give you skills different from your main career path but still required.(if this exists) Why? Because your stat setup will be terrible at raising those skills and awesome at raising your career skills. An example might be trade skills. You will be selling those minerals, right?
An achura is probably best. eve-hq can help you decide the details but memory(industry) would likely be your primary stat followed by perception(mining barge/exhumer).

Learning skills? What are you talking about? Charisma is mostly useless for those. Achura is chosen because they have a 3 charisma and a pretty good balance of other stats.

I suspect he meant "leadership," not "learning," as in the mining foreman path.
There it certainly does matter.
Is there a minmatar option that's comparable? I know you'd want a shield tanking race, either for the hulk or, ultimately, the Rorqual, but is there an option other than Achura that gets you a better charisma roll?

My mining alt is Gallente/Gallente/Miners and started out with around 92% efficiency with 50% stations --- --- --- --- --- My views don't reflect those of my corporation, and definitely not those of my alliance as I don't have an alliance :p . |
