hmm. is this something that older players have gotten used to?, or is this just for a certain period of time?
Or is it just me that have noticed this/have this problem?

2004.04.28 11:38:44 Downtime extended to 13:00 GMT 28th of April.
Dear customers, unfortunately we need to extend downtime due to server upgrade taking longer than expected.

Never have a problem with this. It's only down for an hour with me, sometimes sooner, sometimes a bit later.
However, the downtime isn't where it's suppose to be, and I've gotten used to that. They say DT is 11-12 GMT, but it dosn't hit untill 12am GMT till 1pm GMT.

Lets see, 2 hours is not right man its 3-4 hours.
First its dovntime (usualy they can not be on time, buy Rolex), then its unexpected reboot, stuck in gates and soon we will have reboot, stuck in station and then lagg out and ctd.
Hmmm like i see it ccp should be payin us for tryin to stay calm on this beta server they run here.

From what I recall then downtimes have only been extended when there is a patch or like now a server upgrade.
So in short :
Extended downtime is good Spawn of the Devil

Offical DT is 11am to 12am GMT, we agree on that.
I'm in GMT+1, so that means the DT SHOULD be between 12 and 1pm MY time.
However, it's not down untill 1pm MY time, which means, it's not actually down untill GMT+1, which is an hour later than what is stated.

warning has been around as during the night the server would get a few hickups and to top it off, yesterday after dt when it just crashed completly.
don`t take scheduled dt`s for granted as they might change when needed

u sure ur not in a GMT+1 region that then has summer time making it GMT+2. Britain is in the GMT+0 region but during the summer it ends up at GMT+1

Pretty easy this one: Look at the clock in the lower left corner of the EVE window. It is game time. When that little sucker strikes 11:00 the servers will be closed.
So when you all get confused about what time it is, then think about GMT as game time, or GaMeTime. Then open up EVE and look at the clock. You will be admired by your friends and family. Yo Yo Yo Siggalafo |

CCP may be down extended'ly the past few days because of the upgrade, I don't know; but I would like to say that a couple of weeks ago before the upgrades, they would come back on line in 20 minutes or so.
They have the longer ones, and they also have shorter ones. Very interesting when you log off, get some coffee, turn on the TV, check the game for the hell of it 20 minutes later; and BAM!, it is actually up and running after reboot in only 20 minutes.
I just wanted to throw in that the complaining here about extended downtimes while all the upgrades settle in is nothing, but in the long run, it might get us back to rebooting in less time.
Oh, and if you set your training times based upon your lunch hour, you are bound to run into a problem at some time. Choose skills that take a long time to train for the times you won't be around to change the skill. I never really was after Cruise Missile Lvl 5, but I only have a few days left on it now. Most of that is because when I am not going to be around, I change to it. Choose a skill to train that takes a long time as your skill to set while you won't be around to make the change and you will be much happier.

The server shuts down exactly at 11 GMT, though for countries that have daylight saving time (you know when you set your clocks at home one hour back or forth) it is one hour more to your regular GMT+something, since GMT always stays the same, it is not adjusted for daylight saving (or summer) time. Meaning if you are in GMT+1, and you have set your clock one hour forward few weeks back when the daylight saving time came to effect, you are actually GMT+2 now.
So the server does go out at 11 GMT, but it kind of fails to come back up at 12 GMT usually :))
And if I have known about the extended downtime today, I would have put another skill in training.. Oh well. I hope that after all these downtimes and server hickups, we will enjoy ourselves in a faster and more interactive world than before.

Lady Michelle EVE is GMT time exactly.
And Iceland is not GMT-1, Iceland is GMT, they do not have daylight saving time at all, they never set their clocks hour forward before summer or backward in autumn.
hmm they hardly have daylight, btw :P ;)))

I apologise for being stubborn and pig headed.
The timezone map I was looking at on my KDE, did not take into account about summer times.
GMT does NOT change, the local timezones does. Which means GMT+1 moves to GMT+2 and so on.
There for I am NOT gmt+1 as thought, I am in CEST, which is GMT+2.
I apologise deeply for my stubborness, and withdraw from the thread, standing corrected.
