Tried to sell a character, and hit a stone wall. No credit card, no sale. I've got a bank card for my account, but unless you subscribe to having credit, you can't sell your char? I'm sure that CCP's competitors (Any number of ISK-selling sites, illegal as they may be) are fully compliant with all types of payment :/
Not that I'm advocating that, not at all, but it'd be good to see some form of Debit Card support across EVE.

I messed up once and it rejected my payment because I forgot to switch the card type from say Mastercard to Visa.

If you have enough cash on your Debit Card, it should work.
However, truth be told... I have a Debit Card myself, and while it worked quite well before the "billing system changes", it stopped working afterwards, even if the bank assured me there should be no reason for that (I can still pay other stuff online with it, but neither CCP nor ShatteredCrystal//PayPal would accept it anymore).
The fact it's not just CCP, but also PayPal makes me think of a system problem (as in "banking system problem"), not a problem with CCP itself.

Your debit card is Visa or MC isn't it? I just realised one can be a Debit card and not be part of Visa. Mine is a Maestro, and doesn't work.

Its my understanding that its against the Terms and conditions to sell your account.
You can however sell your Character for ISK ingame, but that is the only way.
However you have brought up one annoyance and that is that i need a credit card to pay for my account's subscription charge, and not a debit card.
Currently Eve is the only thing that comes out of my credit card on a regular basis.

To be honest, I stopped caring... after "battling" for over a week with the bank and CCP billing petitions, I gave up trying to solve the problem and simply started buying GTCs with ISK via the secure system.
Since I only use my Debit Card for ATM cash withdrawals (works fine), online bill payments (works fine), the occasional big ticket item purchase at a shop (works fine too) and EVE (no longer works, but no longer relevant), I lack the motive to try and investigate this further.

yeah this system is like payment with flowers in stoneage compared what is possible.
i dunno why they didnt apply the same payment settings as for renewing the subscription. should be easy as easy but nothing like this happens. the crazy thing is that i had to get a credit card just to do the trade. never ever again used this thingy. 
thx ccp real superior customer service skill 
more payment options are demanded soooo many times and they are still ignoring the palyerbase but giving us stupid stuff like free shuttles

No idea about the OP, but I was talking about the subscription billing.
It used to accept my debit card, no longer does.
Everything else works fine except CCP's billing and ShatteredC//Paypal.

paying my montly subscription via direct debit works pretty pretty fine but the real problem for me is the same as the OP |

You, as the owner of the character, need to pay $10 or so to transfer your character to another account. I'm pretty sure the original post is referring to paying this transfer fee (in order to sell the character for in-game money). |

I think they mean they can't pay CCPs character transfer fee with their debit card.
as for CCPs billing system, my friend has had their automatically renewing subscription not work. Which is inconvenient |
