*posted here, since a lot of the people on this forum know a bit about squishing pods *
I notice that if my ship is getting killed, I start clicking "WTZ on randomobject" and my pod warps out before the fireworks of my ship exploding are done. Way too fast for even the best tacklers to catch. (usually)
So why is it that around 90% of pods hang around after their ship is gone? The last one sat there long enough for my un-sensor boosted harbringer to lock onto it

^ Yep.
Most times it's them lagging as their ship explodes... learn to love spamming the "warp to" button |

I lag hard when my ship explodes. I've rarely escaped a podding, unfortunately. For some reason though I don't get any lag when NPCs or other characters explode near me.

When you're going to die: CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + E, T, and F12. Turns off effects, turret effects, and sound. Reduces lag. |

Hey, dirk, just wondering...I've noticed you get a lot more lag when your ship blows up if you're zoomed in. Try zooming maxed out, it might help a tad (if you're not doing that already, that is) |

I always zoom all the way out once I hit hull. If it helps it isn't by much. I turned off basically all of my effects and messages when I was doing fleet warfare, and have never turned them back on. That helped lag during normal operation, but didn't reduce it upon ship explosion.
I also lag when I eject (I never eject in combat, but I've been known to eject at POSs or for other reasons), so I think it's just the software going through the motions of removing me from the ship that causes the lag. |

Edited by: Khraunus on 07/05/2008 05:11:44 I've been podded twice because my Eve client likes to crash just before I get to see the pretty explosion. Just remember that when you're in structure, there's no such thing as pressing the 'warp to' button too many times. |

If I want to get away I always keep a destination in my autopilot. That way I can just activate it right before my structure is gone. ...I keep spamming warp to object anyway though.
Most the people you've been popping probably never knew there would be lag from it ;)

What kind of PC do you run EVE on? Just curious. |

A good idea would be to make a RAM drive for eve to extremely reduce session shifting lagg (jumping, grid loading, undocking, blowing up.) --------- Don't hate me because i look good. |

If they haven't got any implants, maybe they actually want to take the pod express back home to fit another ship, though I've never confirmed this with them before they leave...

Well... some people go into pvp situations without implants... and sometimes it's faster to get back home if you're podded so... yeah. I'm hardly ever podded if I don't want to be, but if I'm PVPing far from home and lose a ship, I'll happily lose a pod so I can get back quickly.

I've also found that turning off the wallet blink on balance change, and changing it so your eve mail icon doesn't blink from the insurance mail helps too.

My guess would be lag \ scrambling to warp out and missing the warp to button a few times. Or a quick ride home. Or just so busy looking at how awesome everything I fly is that they forget to warp out

I have to confess to losing a few pods recently, the older my machine gets the more I suffer.
Client lag is getting terrible when the ship goes pop (guess its time to buy a new one) !

Ah yes, the infamous missing the warp to button. In my first days, I did that. Got too shaky from being hyped up from losing my ship, couldn't click on ****.

I don't care about getting podded, since it helps me end up at a station that much sooner to fit out a new ship.
I've started fitting cheap learning implants now, so I might start warping out if I'm not too far away from a good market hub.
