I'd like to run some Level 2 Missions and don't really want to do it in a Cruiser. My gun skills are high, but my shield skills aren't all that good. So I was wondering, Wolf or Jaguar? Any setups are much appreciated.

Destroyer or Cruiser is probably better, easier, and cheaper IMO...and just wondering, why don't you want to use a Cruiser?

For L2s I'd use an AutoWolf with an MSE. Like so:
Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II
1MN Afterburner II Medium Shield Extender II
200mm AutoCannon II 200mm AutoCannon II 200mm AutoCannon II 200mm AutoCannon II Rocket Launcher II
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
(This is basically just an AB version of my ninja-ratter.)
It's possible to cram in 3 gyros by making some other alterations, but I don't think it's worth it. You'll be killing things quickly enough that two nanos may actually get you a better killspeed than raw dps.
If you move on to L3s, the Jaguar is the more versatile ship, though the Wolf still has its advantages in several missions.

Edited by: Cpt Cosmic on 07/05/2008 06:24:11 Edited by: Cpt Cosmic on 07/05/2008 06:24:01 wolf and jaguar have same shield resistance, so I would take a wolf cause it sports more dmg and more falloff range with AC even if jaguar has more shield hp.
just slap 150 AC, Medium Shield Extender, AB in mids, dmg mods + overdrives in lows and rush through lvl 2 missions. |

Jag, imho.....i got both and i would say the Jag is better...it may haver less dmg but its faster and better tanked.
highs 3x AC II 1xRL (II or named)
mids 1xABII 1xMSE II 2x shield recharger II
Lows 3x shield power relay
this think has 2k+ of shields, and can regen them fast....stupidly fast!!! i put 2 purger rigs on mine for shield regen and reached 101s regen on shields, and it goes 800m/s+ walks lvl 2s and can easily tank lvl 3s....just low on DPS on 3s but if its a small one its no probs. He's doing L2s. Tank, shmank. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Do it in a dram :P I did on another character and level 2 missions was a blast. I say Dram because there are some missions that you will be kiting and need standard launchers. And the armor and shields are nice for a frig. The wolf or Jag would be gimped in these cases. but if you insist on wolf or Jag I would say wolf. I consider the missing pleasure hub interior a bug.. even if it is not. Please fix it. :P |

Could you use a wolf or jag in lvl 3's? Or at that point is it simply more efficient to do them in a rupture/'cane? -- lol wut |

Sure; I use my Wolf against Blood Raiders and Sanshas (because of its resistances), and it does stuff like "Eliminate The Pirate Campers" or "The Rogue Slave Trader" quite fine both in Arty and AC setups. If you know what you're doing, even "Massive Attack" is possible in an Artillery Wolf. Haven't tried the Jag, because the Wolf's been doing all I needed so far, but EFT says it can be made to do similar things, though with either less tank or less dps of course.

A BC will be much more efficient than an AF in most L3 missions, but its also a lot more boring, so I stopped using mine. I doubt a Rupture (or any T1 cruiser, for that matter) can feasibly run many L3 missions without extreme skills (and also player skill) and an expensive T2/faction fitting.
As for the OP's original question, any AF will work for any L2 mission if you half know how to fit and use it, because their tank in comparison to the damage that's coming in makes them very forgiving of mistakes in that situation.

i would be more weary of taking in a wolf on a lvl 3 like AE or blockade tho...as in minnie space, angels are a bit of a nightmare having good spread of dmg...this is where the jag comes in...its less DPS more tank.
IMHO the wolf is all out gank pvp and the jag is for tank and pve. though both can be used fotr each role, these are where they accell the most. Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of themself without that law is both. |
