dont know what you all think about this, but imho there is a huge diffrent from calling sombody n00b between calling sombody newb,
as from my definition- n00b comes form the word nobody- equal a looser, sombody that dosnt counts. while newb comes from the word newbie, and is a person who is new at something.
example: i argee that i am a newb on alot of things, but beeing called a n00b because i am new person can feel a bit insulting.

You will probably find many kiddies ingame that like to be as insulting as possible for no real reason at all...the 'block' feature is invaluable for ridding yourself of their smack talk. Otherwise just ignore them, there are plenty of good and fun people that play this game. ------------------------------------------------

Atleast you get to be called something. I aint called anything, as I was a Beta Tester, I am not seen as a Noob or Newb. However, I have only been playing for about a month, but me aint a Newb, but I aint a hard core player either.

Having come over from the Lineage 2 beta, n00b was most definitely an intended insult and used frequently.
Lin 2 didn't have an ignore function either.

A newbie is someone who's new to the game, a noob is someone who isn't but just doesn't seem to 'get it'. He'll come off as a newbie no matter how long he's been playing.
That's the going definition, as far as I know

newb = Someone who is new at something, with very little experience to back them up. Derived from "Newbie".
n00b = Someone who is not necessarily 'new' to something, but can be arrogant, naive, stubborn, etc. towards that particular subject (in this case Eve).
So only a 'new' player with limited experience can essentially be a "newb", but ANY player can be a "n00b" if they act like one.
"n00b" examples: 1) WHAT!?!? My shuttle cost me 10,000,000.00 isk on escrow?!?! It's not MY fault!
2) Posting posts on these forums with alts because someone is too afraid of what people would actually think about "them" (without realizing that people still think that about "them", by thinking it about their alt....it's still YOU!)
And I'm sure there's more I cannot think of...

Exactly! You got your post up before mine (took me a while to write it) and you summed it up much better. As far as I know that is the going definition as well.

Do you think this topic has been stretched and drawn out as far as it can go? THe initial thread conundrum has been answered and solved satisfactorily right?
