Ok, i'll try again, since patch 1424 the graphics in Eve are totally screwed. The object in the following is my Iteron IV in a couple screenshots I took today:
http://man1ac0.tripod.com/MajGlitch.txt http://man1ac0.tripod.com/MajGlitchII.txt
I'm using a GeForce Ti4200, i have direct 9.0b and i've tried drivers 53.03, 56.56, 56.64 and 56.72. The above we're taken while using the 53.03 drivers. Up until the 1424 patch I had no problems at all. Alt-tabing to windows temporarily clears the glitch.
Does anyone, Developer, ISD or Eve player have any ideas on how to resolve this? (\_/) (O.o) (> <) "That's no ordinary rabbit!...that's the most foul, cruel and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on" |

Looks like an overclocked gfx card. Try to set a lower clock frequency.

Cool it down man! Your GPU that is. That effect is commonly caused by GPU manufacturers selling hot cards (and I don't mean stolen). Tom's Hardware noticed this type of problem in one of their review tests a while back, admittedly it was an ATI card but then there is no reason for NVidia cards to not join that club.

I'll look into cooling the thing down some more. In the end I tried the 56.56 drivers and fiddling with the settings (Anisotropic filtering, Force mipmaps) which seemed to clear it, but I guess that would be because the card wouldnĘt working as hard and so not overheating as much .
Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated

Edited by: Mr nStuff on 29/04/2004 19:00:43 I don't overclock my GFX...
If this is what happens to my video some day. You can kiss my account goodbye.
EDIT: The reason I say this is because it's already bad enough that I see the sun through EVERYTHING.

Gabriel, it indeed looks like your gpu is getting hot, tho im not sure. I have never had any problems in eve with my geforce, except for the z-buffering, but i think thats quite common.
Mr nStuff, try upgrading your videacard from a directx7 to a directx 8 or higher card :) You probably have a geforce 4mx, or a geforce 2 or lower. Mind, a geforce 4mx does NOT have dx8 capabilities, despite its numbering as 4. Only the 4ti have dx8. This is also the case with a radeon 8500 or lower.

maybe CCP should hand out videocard upgrades.
You want to buy me a new video card?
I think it would be easier if they just fix the problem.
no excuses. these graphics aren't beyond my GFX capabilities. This is a programming error.
I will simply not go out and buy a new graphics card after every patch.. Once other games start to show signs of problems. Maybe when the sun in thoughs games starts shining through planets. Maybe then I will consider it.
But right now. I'm simply not convinced that it's entirely on my end.

Get used to games having various graphical issues. Apparently you haven't played enough to realize that drivers can't account for every game out there and that games can't account for the graphic drivers all the time. When I had a GeForce I had to use 45.23 instead of 50.16 because Maya would screw up and now on my Radeon I have to use 4.1 because otherwise my monitor exhibits some strange behavior.

That's just the thing. I don't have any GFX issues with any new games sept EVE Online. |

I have had the exact same problem with my Geforce fx 5200 since the same patch. I have very good cooling on my card and case. Ive tried everything I can try - now I just live with it.
