Iam lookin to fit a anti nano ship, something that would work good against Nano cloak ships, if they expose them selves, how to get a good jump on them with a good setup.
Most nano ships we fight sit long ways off, got about 5k/s.
But there has to be some what to catch them or something, iam a new player, about 5mill SP.
just looking for a good ship, and a good setup for fighting nano.

More then a few ways to catch nano ships listed on these forums. As a Caldari player I'd recommend making a bee-line for the Kitsune. It won't catch a nano-ship but as most HACs have really poor sensor strength you can do your part. Later on you can pursue the more skill intensive ships.

There have been lots of threads on this recently, look back through the first few pages of this board and you should find pages worth of ideas.
There are lots of things that can do decent damage to nanoships, or just tank them indefinitely, but to actually kill one you have to remove its ability to run outside of disruptor range and warp off. Which means (long-range) webs or neuts.
So a Rapier or Huginn is the obvious choice, shortly followed by the Curse. Asides from these, if you can cough up the cash, a Domination web on any BC with a MWD ought to do the trick too (extra points if you have the ability to overheat).
I'm not going to go into any more detail as it's all been covered before.

Well for a new caldari player I am going to assume you aren't in T2 ships yet (feel free to correct me) but I would suggest a well fitted Moa might be ideal. Instant damage and resonably long range. In fact any long range Gun platform would work resonably well. Other than that you just need some co-ordination and some mates in t2 ships to catch us with. Oh and hi have fun shooting us ---

Doesn't really matter what you put on that moa. Just make sure its best named fit, or t2. Better yet you get a good bang for your buck for faction, even officer mods. Don't worry about tank either, go full gank and maximum range. And send out many more interceptors please. ___________________________

or a cerb with precision missles :P cerbs missles do over 8km/s irc with no missle speed rigs ^^
but best choise for nano is a combo of neuts webbs adn guns/missles that can track/hit fast moving ships

nononono.
your supposed to post on the forum about how nano ships are overpowered and should be nerfed, your not supposed to ask how to configure ships to counter nanos.

Recons make superb anti-hac vehicles, especially Rapiers/Huginn or Curse/Pilgrim (no Pilgrim whines) protected by Arazu/Lach or Falcon/Rook.
EAS same theory, protection even more important here.
Turret based med/long range cruisers/hacs/bc are good also.
Interceptors with webs (need to be protected).
Keeping an eye on transversal is important as is being organised.
Sniping BS with good alpha make good support for the tacklers also.
If you using close range BS then use neuts, but the best solution to support ships (inc nano hacs) is recons and anti-support. [/url] |

If you're willing to train for Minmatar ships and guns, the Huggin and the Rapier make superb anti nano ships.
Use a double web setup and with the right skills, you can web 40 kms away from the target.

Any interceptor worth it's salt should be able to catch them, and any interceptor with three midslots can fit a web as well as the point and MWD. Nano ships almost never fit a web (because they don't operate in web range, and have precious few midslots in general for MWD, point and buffer) so the interceptor should be free from being webbed in return. However, the nanoship's guns and (if fitted) medium neut can pose a problem - missiles and drones will generally not hit the interceptor at all, or for much damage if so.
This is where another electronic warfare ship needs to come in to protect the interceptor - at least until sturdier ships can get within web-range of the nanoship, or long-range heavy hitters finish it off. Tracking disruptors can work very well against a Vagabond for example, with a couple of bonused optimal-range-scripted Balmers taking the Vaga's optimal + falloff down to around 5km, such that an interceptor orbiting at 8-9km will be hit very rarely. And of course, if you have Caldari ECM boats around, jamming the nanoship will render it unable to respond in any way whatsoever. This is the safest option, especially as the nanoship may well be packing a medium neut that can alpha an interceptor's cap and let the nanoship warp out. A Curse will be able to supplement bonused tracking disruption (guns don't hit) with offensive neuting (no cap for the nanoship to neut back with) - so can be a very good second choice in this role too.
Even if you don't have the electronic warfare support, a pair of relatively cheap interceptors should be able to hold the nanoship webbed for long enough before being destroyed that a standard cruiser/battlecruiser with MWD can get within 13km and sign the death warrant. It's a matter of teamwork and having the balls to possibly suicide one ship for the overall good.

Conversely any nano worth it's isk also packs a neut (e.g vaga, ishtar) and/or light drones to do in ceptors. The only nano really vulnerable to a webby ceptor is in the zealot, fortunately it's second only to the vaga in lock time and will vaporise any inty coming within 35k.
Seeing as they're all tii there's no certain way of countering a nano, they're ability vary wildly although the ishtar followed by curse are the two you really don't want to see.
Best counter for the ishtar is a nano zealot, tracks it easy and has the speed and range to keep up and keep point (+ damage advantage), don't worry about any td, un-bonused it isn't enough to hamper. You just watch out for sentries, particularly if he drops them on top of a gate.
As for curse, well that's a 2 man job but any combo of 2 ships should be sufficient, nano arazu will be you're best friend here not a falcon. Why? Nano drone boats, contrary to popular belief, own emc ships having both the speed to close the gap and indirect damage independent of lock. If you're in a faclon and a curse or ishtar launches med drones and you jam him it's auto aggro and turst me, you won't be warping anywhere at the speed we bump hence nano arazu which can outrun the drones if you dont get the damps on in time. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |
