Sadly, I lack the funds to have fun in a Drake, so I was wondering if anyone have had any luck with PvP Caracals? Any type of setup is appreciated, but I have limited ewar skills.

Edited by: achoura on 07/05/2008 18:18:06 Heavies (scourge), Mwd, booster (for locking range), damps & bcus, drones for fun (which you'll almost never use so may ass well bring armour rep ones).
Hover at 70-90km and pound away while the gang/bubbles keep things pinned down.
Nice thing about caracals is almost ever new player can fly one, deal damage in relative safety and cause havoc with damps. Dirt cheap to replace, wonderful nooby support for snipers in numbers, 5 caracals with 15 damps usually results in rude remarks, 10 with 30 busy local, 20 with 60 is just rude
Don't bother with tanking it, it lacks both fitting and cap to tank effectively plus with 90+k effective range without rigs if you're close enough to be shot you're wasting a bonus and too close for your own good anyway. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

Oops, I see my postingskills need an upgrade
I intend to use it in lowsec pvp with small gangs of people/solo harassing. I doubt there will be any large gangs... Also, I suck at dampening My shield and missile skills are very good though, so setups focusing on those would be really nice. And I love HAM's.

people bring them to the gang, stay in the back (no points or web) and just fling missiles.
never a key player but eh, dps helps a bit.

Edited by: Euriti on 07/05/2008 18:44:29 My 1600mm vexor got killed by one, nano'd i presume as it went 1.8km/s and my drones couldn't get proper dps on it, they catched up, did 1 volley then fell behind, caught up, 1 volley, fell behind.

See above. Definetely bring a tackler, Caracals don't perform so well solo.
Generally, fit an MWD, heavy launchers...
and from there you can do the following:
Fill medslots with shield or EW mods.
Fill lowslots with BCUs or speedmods.
As a rule of thumb, if I go for shieldtank, I also take more BCUs for more damage. EWar and speed complements each other as well. Though I'd still fit at least 1 BCU.
Also keep in mind that it doesn't actually have to be sensordamps, you could go with tracking disruptors, ECM or even target painters as well.
I would go with heavies, MWD, 1 shield extender, 1 BCU, rest EW and overdrives/nanos.
Cogito ergo boom - I think i'll blow sh*t up

They also chew frigates like there's no tomorrow. Hint: assault launchers and precision lights, plus LSEs. Take note though, the setup is useless for most everything beyond frigate size.

caracals are great, it can solo most other cruisers if fitted right (and the other guy doesnt have some kind of good counter-fit).
i pwned Euriti with mine :p
you can tackle just fine yourself, just remember though, if you are fit for ganking most other cruisers, then your cara isnt fitted for handling other cara's. trust me, i tried, i had to run against a nub in a cara :p
