The story goes like this. He joined us yesterday, complete noob, and today he was out in the field mining. He left his comp a little while and when he came back he was in a pod. Some guristas had killed him.
Ill post the chat but the guy who podded himself gets named (The Noob) cause of the respect of the pilot. This is not his real name.

This was it ... u can read it for urselves. Thought it was a little funny =)
This brings me a question too. Is there a way to abort the countdown. I dont know cause i never selfdestruct my ships

I can assure you we all had a blast, even he who got podded.
He was fully reinsured by us after that :) as thanks to the good Laugh we got :p

hmmmm didn't think you could self destruct pods since the last patch, always gives the 120 warnign then doesn't do anything for me
oh well i must have been bugged when i tried then

Because it's annoying when people kill your frigate 10+ jumps from any station, and deliberately leave your pod there. You either self-destruct or spend forever crawling to the nearest station.

err...you can not self-destruct your pod anymore, I tried 2 days ago several times with the same result.
Clock says it starts, then nothing happens.

Read that before you start complaining about how it isn't nice to post this on the forums or call the guy "the noob".
This was funny, and it's nice to see that some people has a good sense of humour. They didn't post this to make fun of their corp member as far as I can see.

This may come as a surprise to some of you, but people can take care of themselves, and they know what a sense of humor is.

I think mainly it's there to annoy pirates... you can self destruct and you won't leave any loot.
Also I guess you COULD self destruct your pod to get back home fast, but that's an insanely expensive way to travel. Figure a new clone with a full set of implants costs what, 30+ million ISK? And not using implants costs training time, which is even worse...

THIS IS A SCAM,
Please post this fellows character name. He did the exact same thing to us. He pretended he was using a friends login and mining for him. He says that he accidentaly self destructed. Once destructed he begs for help because he has destroyed a mates ship. In our case he said he was mining using a Thorax. He gained money from our members, transfers this to another character and leaves the corp.
PLEASE POST THIS GUYS NAME

I did post his name.. check my post regarding this scam in the general forum. It is the right thing to complain about people like this that twist the good nature of others to their own ends. If no-one says anything then this behaviour continues.

I think you're misunderstanding me. Ofc it is good to stand up for "the little guy" and help newbies etc. But you also have to check if it's newbie bashing or not, I get the feeling not everyone read all posts before posting.
