I've just upgraded my graphics card and ram and installed all the needed drivers etc. When I start up the game I 'usually' can get to the character selection screen where it freezes up my whole PC which means I hae to restart everytime. That or it will load up to the login screen, freeze, and then close/crash.
I've tried reinstalling drivers and even the EVE Client itself w/ premium turned on and off. I've also tried in windowed mode and fullscreen.
Specs: AMD 3200+ 2.0ghz 4x GB 400mhz ram nVidia 8800GS
Note: Even caused me to get a bluescreen where it was trying to dump the physical memory to disk space. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Also I can play BF2142, Crysis, and STALKER all at max settings without them freezing up or crashing my computer like EVE is doing, if that helps any.

Have you tried to delete all the eve files from the local setting directory?
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE
Be warned, this will also remove your settings. Also "Local Settings" is a hidden directory, so you have to make it visible if you haven't done it already.
