Consoles are brilliant for arcade, fighting, simulator and racing... 2 player multiplayer is optimal choice for a console I like different type of games, like the ones that come on PCs... mixing it all together is wrong

They released Oblivion for both PC and console... console version is inferior... no modifications, no construction set, no forums access (connect to forums on the PC), finally no immersion Oblivion was still good... but the fans prefer the PC version seriously console version catches general public who see Elderscrolls games for the first time, and those unlucky who have no other decent games to play on Xbox 360

I agree with most people when they say that waiting for a game to come out before judging it is the best approach. The fallout 3 hate bandwagon has got such weight behind it that it is actually making itself sound a bit fanboy-ish. For RPGs and figher games, sure. FPS do alright on consoles but honestly its a nightmare to aim with a control stick/pad. Everything else, no. This isn't a bash consoles thread but you'll probably over react and take it as such. I'd like to see you try and play Starcraft, Diablo 2, or Warcraft 3, or any RTS for that matter on a console. What about MMOs? Well, there is FFXI, but they had to sacrifice control and UI functionality for it. Not to mention NPC diversity. If you've played FFXI you'll understand what I mean when I say "crabs". How would you play EVE on a console? As for making games as "good" on a console, not really. The console is severely limited in its hardware capability. Heres the XBox specifications: CPU: 32-bit 733 MHz Coppermine-based Mobile Celeron in Micro-PGA2 package. 180 nm process. * SSE floating point SIMD. 4 single-precision floating point numbers per clock cycle. * MMX integer SIMD. * 133 MHz 64-bit GTL+ front side bus to GPU. * 32 KB L1 cache. 128 KB on-die L2 "Advanced Transfer Cache". # Shared memory subsystem * 64 MB DDR SDRAM at 200 MHz; 6.4 GB/s I emboldened the important parts. 733 MHz CPU? AND its a Celeron processor too! In case you don't know, Celeron processors are incredibly cheaply made Intel CPUs. Nothing wrong with Intel chips, but a Celeron CPU is the equivalent of putting in a lawnmower engine in a sports car. Well, maybe not that drastic, but its a really ****ty CPU in terms of power. Celerons are the really low grade CPUs of the CPU world. I don't even need to mention the RAM. That should speak for itself. I'd also like to point out that games on the PC are 10x more complex game play wise than any console game. Unless of course its a game that was developed for both platforms from the get go. The game is then dumbed down to work better on consoles. The PC industry is fine, the PC gaming industry isn't. The 360 has a bit more juice (though not all that impressive by modern standards). Also, on a standardized engine the developers can optimize preformance far more than they can when they have to take half a gigazillion different processors, graphicscards etc etc. It's also an upside IMHO. It means that you can run a modern port on something that isn't too new. Not everyone can afford to upgrade their PC on a monthly basis. The real downside to "consolizing" is the user interface. When you're down to 2 sticks, 1 D-pad and 10 buttons as standard there is no way you can provide the freedom that comes with a mouse&keyboard. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it.
