Edited by: Miss Galencia on 09/05/2008 12:41:37 Ok, I havent seen this talked about in a few pages of reading through this forum, so either it's not been mentioned before, it hasn't been mentioned in a while and needs bringing up again, or I'm blind. I apologise in advance if option 3 turns out to be correct.
Anyway..
It is possible in eve to run a full communist corporation, where you allow members to take what they want when they want and to dontate all their ISK to the corp. It is also possible to have a corp whereby everyone fends for themselves. However as I see it there is no middle ground, it's not possible to put stuff on the market at discount corp rates without everyone and his mother taking these bargains.
Proposal: Have a seperate section of the market(or just a flag) which is only available to your corporation, alliance, or both. This way you can put modules/items/whatever on the market(maybe only where you have an office?) at reduced prices, allowing your members to enjoy discounts, and keeping your profits high on the other stuff that you sell to the masses.
I am aware that this is semi-possible through the contracts system, but this doesn't go far enough IMO. It is far too inconvient to arrange all the contracts for all the items you want to make available and is far too cumbersome for the buyer to find the stuff they need quickly. I am also aware there are some cool ideas such as web based shop interfaces, but again these require a lot of work to set up and maintain, when all is really required is such a simple thing.
I cant really think of any negative impact of this idea, except perhaps some small movement away from jita(which can only be a good thing).
TLDR version: It would be cool and useful if you could flag items only available for corp/alliance members on the market(or perhaps set a discount for them on stuff they buy from you).
Edit: typos

I can imagine a dedicated market for larger corps being a definate advantage for the corp manufacturers that support their own corporation directly. Contracts and Direct trades aside, screwing around with specifics is not ideal for a corporation that drills through thousands of items a week, so a dedicated market will really help out here.
This could also be used in conjunction with the Standings system, and allow our set standings with other player corporations to give us access to their Corporations' market.

Standings based is a better idea, that way you can include external corps that help your alliance or exclude people you personally dislike ;)

I appreciate the suggestion of standings based access, but IMO this sort of delves into the realm of preventing market pvp. Making it entirely standings based could be abused in 0.0 outposts so prevent hostile market takeovers, which are as much a part of the game as anything else. My suggestion is to just make running a particular type of corporation a little easier, not to impact too heavily on specific types of gameplay.

I love the idea! Galencia is right though, if a standings system was implemented it could cause some trouble out in 0.0, but a corp market would undoubtably open up that middle ground. I know my corp would love it!

A company store is a great idea. This would help the small corps immensely. Even a simple implementation of internally manufactured goods would really help. Future phases could be for mineral exchange.
Using out of game forums and spreadsheets is ridiculous in a computer game.

i love this idea every time i hear it. we often offer corp only discounts but the only way we can do this is to get an eve mail and then set up a contract or set up corp only contracts for 2 weeks ahead of time. Being able to put up just ammo for corpmates would help immensely as the contract system has a horrid time with that.
