no I mean like REAL ships ca drop anchor at any given point and they are stationary, and cannot be moved. I want a similar thing, helpful when Mining, Camping, CHilling out ect...
You anchor your ship but it works in a similar way to pos anchoring in that there is a time delay to anchor unanchor...
But it shoul dbe posible...the harpoons are for flamewave...he likes to hunt space whales... --------------------

He wants an anti-bump system that works pretty much the same like anchoring a container works. As long as it takes a while to do it, comparable to how long it takes to anchor a container/deployable of similar size... and prevents you from moving/docking/jumping while anchored... I don't see a problem with it.

Well i'm not saying that i want ccp to remove the bumping, but a lil more reality would be nice, lil ship bumps big ship? lil ship shoots out a gazzillion miles while big ship just nudges a lil.
that or, lil ship bumps big ship, big ship takes 2 red bars of shield damage, while lil ship explodes in a ball of flame. _______________________________________________________ CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

Yes please anchor your ship while mining and or gate camping. I am certain that my BC BS gang will be completly vexed by your total lack of maneuverability and inability to warp. I support this product / service fully. Bored during down time? Try this. |

My ship doesn't move away when I stop it, unless it gets bumped... Also, what use is an actual anchor in space?

What exactly are you planning to anchor to? Unlike old earth ships, there's precious little in space to throw a rope around, and I suspect station/gate authorities wouldn't appreciate you tying your ship to them.

Oh, I dunno maybe a godsend? Anchoring in space without the use of geostationary orbits sounds like it would be quite beleepin usefel imo.

I know what he's talking about.
Sometimes I accidently double click in space and start drifting. I'm sometimes 60km off where I wanted to be because I'm chatting away or clicking somewhere and accidently double click.
This would be nice to have.

Thought: Stationkeeping Thrusters. Rig. You want anti-bump, you get it to a degree but it's a modification to your ship to get them.

Why not? You typically jumpportal from within pos shields anyways. Ever moved 10+ freighters with a titan? That's a bumping madness if only one of those freighterpilots is not careful enough..

Not sure anyone noticed this here as well...
A ship anchor to prevent "bumper cars" sounds kinda lame IMO. Especially since it would take up a slot that you could fill with something else MUCH better.
However, the above quote should drive home why this is a bad idea. Anyone using an anchor will be rendered completely immobile. And however long it takes to raise anchor and prepare to move, that is time you are a sitting duck for anyone who happens upon you. If you find yourself drifting, just press Ctrl + Space again. If you find yourself accidently clicking in the middle of chat, and don't notice for 60km... pay attention to your ship!

Have you used a rorqual yet? You normally sit at a pos in siege and compress the ore on the pos. Nearby you have hangars anchored, and the miners drop the ore into the hangars.
The problem is, that you have to be within 1.5km of the hangar, and the haulers will come very close to you. So close, that they bump you. You will have to drop out of siege, fly to the hangar, and get back into siege again. In that time, you can't compress and drop the additional bonuses. You can of course have someone nearby that bumps you back to the hangars, but i think everyone know what happens then...yep, desync en masse. Have fun with that.
To be honest, a simple option to anchor yourself in space is a great option to solve those problems. It's just extremely annoying..

Bumping a Rorqual causes desynchs? I've never flown one, so don't take this as an attack, just wondering how that works?

Bumping in general causes desynchs, especially if you have high server load and lots of bumping going on.
