NOTE: Sorry for spelling/grammar
As a little farewell gift I will post the secrets I discovered while flying the Scimitar. Why bother? Well back then when I was active It always made me sad how people fit/fly the Scimitar. But why should I help an enemy. Now you aint my enemy anymore.
There is one important rule about fitting a ship in eve I learned pretty early and it helped me a lot. Tank or Gank. What it means is, if you fit a ship, fit it for one role. Dont try to do 3, 4 or 5 things with one ship. Of course there are expections but especially for beginners its a very good rule so you wont end up in a comedy km.
Although there is various roles you can fit a specified ship for, the most efficient one is probably the one how its designed to. Wich leads me right to logistic ships and especially the Scimitar.
The ship has 2 roles:
1) Help others 2) Stay alive
Your fitting must match both requirements equally. If you fit all repair and no tank youll be dead in no time. If you fit all nanofag you are useless. The key is to find a Setup that can tank others well and yourself.
- MWD is bad. Cap is way to important on the ship, the penalty is to great to justify fitting one.
- LSE is bad. A big part of your tank is your small signature, LSE will not help your tank, itll weaken it.
- LCB is bad. Takes way to mutch PG.
With those mods Ruled out, whats left you can use?
- AB is good. With good skills you can reach 1kms easly with no speed mod.
- Active tank is good. Because you have the resists, cap and the small signature wich makes a pretty awesome tank.
- Cap mods are good. So you can sustain all your stuff.
With that in mind, here is the setup I used:
http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0805/turnschuhsscimitarra.JPG
The big advantages are:
- 3 Large t2 remotes are enough tank to make it worth flying a logistic and you are able to run them forever. - You either switch between the remote tank or your own, depending on the situation. But have enough cap to run both remote repairs and your own booster for quite some time if needed. - Cloak is needed if you dont have a MWD, I jumped in big camps 20+ with that setup and managed to cloak and aproach gate or fly way. - The active tank is awesome, You can tank any single ship with it, forever. - The speed with AB is enough to reaproach gate before getting primaryd. - Remote repair does not make you aggro so you can jump out/dock up whenever you are in danger.
Of course there are 2 Problems with that Setup:
- Nos/Neut as with any active Setup - If you dont fight at a gate/station/pos its probably better to fit nanofag.
But keep in that I did not loose a single ship during the first Movie and only 1 during the secound Movie. Even though I flew it daily.

Probably one of the worst setups I've seen on these forums. - Violence isn't the answer, it is the question. The answer is yes. |

I rather like it, but it's a bit slow for my tastes. Worth trying.

I'd love to see that "tank" stand up to ... well, anything.
the sentiment is appreciated, but its pretty horrible.

How much reduction in damage do you get from having such a low sig radius?

Low signature is something most eve players forget about logistics ships, particularly when flying them. Booster is almost always the better choice (as opposed to extender) with your silly cap lvls but mwd is mandatory in 0.0, though fair enough you mainly stuck to empire space, mostly .
Personally i'd swap the ab for mwd, drop and invul for recharger, drop a pdu for relay (depending on skills/implants, for stability) Seeing as the mwd is only used in bursts to evade being webbed/scrammed, and that you can run the booster with it it's a fair trade however it does put you over 400m sig meaning all bs will hit you hard. Sadly the speed state eve has been in these past two years mean mwd is practically mandatory to live out here, if you were willing to spend the isk on a ded ab however that might change somewhat.
There is also the plus that mwd means you wont need that claok, 500 scan res is nice
