anyone know if u can play eve on linux... my friend has linux and wants to tri it out

EVE doesn't run in Linux.

One of the KIA lot posted that he had Eve running on winex (might have been wine), but not very stable (you wouldn't want to go near a fight) and CCP like to use the lastest directx feature ( ) so it won't last long.
edit: Transgaming is not the be-all and end-all of DX emulation, is more about installer support and tweaks, lot's of stuff can be got running with csv winex and wine that transgaming don't/won't/can't support.

If you use winex (latest cvs version) and do some modifications to your prefs.ini and winex config, you can get eve running.
You ahve to login blind as the login screen appears a flat white with no boxes. But once your in you can chat and train. But I can honestly say you cannot play eve in linux, but you can at least chat. Which is good enough when your programming and shouldn't be playing eve anyway :P
Maybe as winex matures, eve may become more playable on it.

Eve used to run on WineX untill it started using DX 9 instead of 8... It might work now with current builds of WineX, I have not experimented with it recently.

As of WineX 3.3 it didn't work. Current version is 3.3.1 I THINK.
But at least EVE is now up for vote for support on Transgaming's site (or was last month).
