well this may sound a bit to deep in fought
but why does space seem so empty why cant we have a breed of creatures that go threw space like giant quid type species like the sentinals out of matrix ??
i was thinking that they could work like birds and move locations round the eve universe and there could be posts on the billboards sayin where their next likley plot will be and for how long.
they would come in sizes i.e.age baby up till adult size this would allow for a veriety of people to be able have a go at killing a couple lol but they would come in massive spawns of about 20 minimum to 50 highest maybe what do you people think ??
would allow for another aspect and also would allow not just pvp but pvc (player versus creature)
my first post try to be kind

Hey, that's not a bad idea, but players would need incentives to go up against them. If they left a corpse with harvestable organs which can fetch a price, there would be a reason to fight them. Otherwise, everyone would just avoid them.

I think its not a bad idea.. could even create a new source of trade with these 'creatures' ... maybe a 'space herding' skill where they could actually be raised and controlled and 'tanning' skill allowing thier 'space-fur' to be harvested and become a new luxery trade item in Galentee space... and maybe another skill that lets them be turned into a source of food for high-class food establishments... not to mention if they were hard enough to fight perhaps a Concord bonus from killing them and helping keep the spaceways clear of them... maybe thats taking the idea too far but if it could be done realistically enough with sufficient economic incentive i think it would work... maybe even a group or new corporation dedicated to the prevention of the explotation of whatever these new creatures are called whose major rival is a group or new coporation dedicated to eliminating these new creatures...
on the other hand, not sure if i've played EVE long enough to know what will work.. but it sounds like a decent idea and it has certianly been used in other games... and I think i can see how it would fit in the EVE universe...

There has been rogue drones in beta and they'll likely be put in again as everyone enjoyed them, a borg-like entity if you will.

I've had a creature hitch a ride on my ship a couple of times, but they do nothing and fall off when I dock.
An alien invasion event? hmmm, all eve-players working together against a common enemy would be cool.

( During my first days of play, i got that bug where another space item is merged with your ship, ignoring this was a bug somewhat know and common. I was flying a griffin and the merged item was a infiltrator drone, still looking the alien way they were used to look before (and fixed now since i guess the gfx will be used for rogue drones).
And i was in awe : "oh damn, there is some kind of space slug on my ship, will it consume my capacitor, will i have to repair my ship or get a special item to remove that thing ?"
Then i jumped to another system and the 'slug' was gone.
Conclusion : space slugs, or a special kind of rogue drones if it fits better the background, sticked on your ship and draining capacitors, or eating armor, or anything else you would have to mind about, could be a fine unexpected addition. Maybe added to the game through an event ? )

and you could damage them by activating a shield booster :)
also, I liked the 'space dolphins' from Titan:AE, those wierd T shaped alien creatures that danced around the ship, maybe some kind of energetic creatures like to hitch rides on fast moving ships (or ships in warp).
Since biotech is also something which is going to be introduced, massive space creatures could be killed to produce biomass that could be harvested from their corpse using mining drones (and a suitable biomatter processing skill).

Bioelectric solar cells, they might consume certain rare asteroids (so they might become pests in the rare-ore fields that need to be kept at bay).
There's actually plenty of SF literature on this sort of thing.

yes i like the idea of the dolphin type creatures from Titan a.e that would be so cool to see them swmming roun your ship while your warping threw gas clouds maybe??
but these type of creatures shouldnt be killed but be a site for people to watch as they swim by in groups.
the sentinal type quids are deffently harmful eventually when biomass skills come in hey could be reprocessed.
Also can i state that the laws of life on earth does not mean it apply's in space
anything and everything could be possible just because we dont know it or haven't seen it does not mean it dont exist or cant happen i.e.who's says it has to breath to be alive ?? who says it has to have eyes to see ??
space and further on is a whole different ball game.

this may have been said so sorry if it has, IF they had to brop somthing then maybe they could drop parts of them and when you have all the mech parts you can build one as a drone. that would be cool, they would look diffent and maybe a use for corpes so you could put them in teh drones to make it bio tech! just a thought

creatures would be nice, we had them back in Earth&Beyond, there were so many different ones that each dropped dif kinds of loot, also with the lvl indication (baby to adult) so u knew which ones u could squish and which ones u should run from like hell.
id love to see some in EVE! I just LUV my 2303ms Rifter :P |

Space creatures were a major part of E&B combat, and obviously it wasn't interesting enough to keep the game alive.
Plus it was completely nonsensical for marauding space blobs to be carrying ship mountable weaponry and modules.

I like the idea I have read that tech 3 components will require biomass this sounds like a fun way to aquire the biomass.

Yeah, some Thargoids damn it! :)
A corpmate scared the hell out of me last summer about CCP working on a badass alien race that would invade the empires or something. Of course superior tech, evil genocidal and all that comes with it.

I've always found it interesting that the next big patch is called Shiva, as Shivans was the name for the uber high tech evil alien race that suddenly appreared out of nowhere in the best Space Sim of all time, Freespace

Creatures living in space you have to understand is really cheesy and would drag the good work put in in the mud, this isn't wrestling or some japanese monster movie, not every spectacular thing goes, some people have standards.

I agree. Earth and Beyond did this and it was one of the lamest parts of the game. Maybe we should learn from their mistakes

I agree as well.. creatures would be an interesting thing to see flying past your ship while being bored aproaching a gate over and over, but yea that may not be the greatest thing for this game. but i think other things such as maybe an actual moving comet off in the distance every now and then, binary stars, random unexplainable pheonominon, sun flares, dark matter, drifting remnants of moons or ancient hidden and destroyed ships or such (not just the shipwrecks you gatta use scanner to search for and find, smaller random stuff that might once in a while drift past you), planets that look like they have sufferend a catastrophic distaster.. like an asteriod collision or maybe even planets or moons that have broken up into peices (or maybe even being able to see an actual comet or large non-minable asteriod collide with a planet), maybe even Novas? Not so much that it would add a noticeable amount of lag to the game.. but it would make the game a little more interested if you happened to witness some screenshot worthy unexplainable pheonominon every now and then while aproaching gates, instead of just aproaching gate after gate with the same old few backgrounds and the same old planet or moon nearby... gets very boring. Random pheonominon would spice the game up just a little bit, even if its just for scenery and wasn't a very common thing. ____________________________________________________________________ Need moons scanned for a corporation Starbase? I'd like to see the rogue drones in game as soon as possible.
Also I'd like for the events team to have people filming major battles and if possible running them on the billboards for people to stop and watch.

Aye we need some kind of uniqe bosses to bully maybe with some kind of STORY*gasp* related to it, placeholding enemys could come into it aswell ie:kill 3 of the bosses mates to get the location of the main boss... this is one area that eve really lacks in space is the same same same cept for the odd station with none to good pirates.
