It would be great if players/NPC could damage stargate. So it would stop function until it is repaired. And it will have big request of minerals for repair.
And when we will have jump drive operations it could be completly destroyed

And exactly how long do you think it would take for some griefing type to decide to knock out every stargate on the highway, and lock up the game for two-thirds of the player base.
Never gonna happen.

for every player that wants to build something, theres a player wanting to destroy it...
silly idea, would lead to no end of griefing and the devs have already stated they want to move comabt away from the gates toward pos and asteroid belts

2. You can use closing stargate to eliminate travel to secure your home system but oponent use same tactic to eliminate incoming routes to his home world.
I don't personaly like invincible/undestructable object. All jumpgates have some defence (sentry) so if you want to close some gate you need some force to do it. And one griefer don't do much damage

would still be cool to be able to disable stargates for short periods of time, would make travelling more exciting.

...are you kidding me? aaahahahahahhahahhaaa... do you even have any idea how many petitions and complaints are filed when a single stargate does not work or gets laggy in eve?
slower travel/random stargates not working != more exciting.
in fact, travel does not even fall anywhere near the category of 'exciting'

I don't like the idea at all. As someone mentioned, travelling is enough of a pain in the butt now.
If the devs want to move combat away from gates, why don't they just make it impossible to fight around them? I have no clue if it's even practical, but make it so combat is not doable within a certain range of a gate.

There are a number of systems that have only one way in and out currently in Eve.
My suggestion would be, in the future if/when new systems are added that a very few of them have player controllable gates. These gates would function the same as the current ones but could be disabled by the gate owner (or gate operator in a corp). These systems would be much like the current and upcoming player capturable abandoned stations. The systems abadoned jump gates would be hidden deep in 0.0 space and must be taken over in the same way as the bases. Once inside the "hidden" system the inside gate must also be taken over before it can be controlled, as well as leaving the region. Neither gate would have sentrys and must be guarded to keep other players from blocking you out of the region or trapping you in. Both gates must be captured to be considered the "owner" of the system, but any bases inside the systems must also be captured if they are not occupied. The chances of finding masses of NPC pirates in such a system should be very high, but once the "Greeting Party" has been eliminated the NPC spawns should only be slightly above normal with additional spawns attacking any PC bases and the gates for control.
