I was directed to and read through this ECM guide and it didn't clearly state whether or not the ECM modules compounded or affected the target individually.
Do all of the modules add up to make a single powerful affect (doesn't quite make sense with the requirement of having to activate modules separately)? 4 multi's = 8 points of ECM per race
OR
Do all modules operate independently? 4 Race specific = 3, 1, 1, 1 per race (6 if compounded)
For use on a Blackbird: Compounding effect would clearly call for all multi-spectrals, cap-allowed. Individual effect would call for race-specific for all 4 races.
While trying to understand how ECM really works, I find that the real comparison comes from trying to overcome the total sensor strength of a ship, and if these modules operate individually, I can't see how 1 ECM point from a module would ever overcome the roughly 13 point sensor strength of a cruiser, applied by relative probability, of course, leaving open the "potential" possibility of a 1 point jam.

There are countless games in the world. There are at least as many ppl that dont like one or more rules of said games. That never stopped smart game designers from creating good games.

Long time ago all the ECM done to a target would accumulate, and if in total it would be more than the sensor strength it would be jammed.
These days all ECM attempts work individually, if a ship has 15 sensor strength and a jammer has 5 jamming strength then there's a 5/15th chance to jam the target every cycle.
If you would have 3 of those jammers EACH would have a 5/15th chance to jam so it'd be 3x(5/15)chance and NOT (3x5)/15 chance, that's a quintessential difference.
On the race specific vs multispec arguement; apart from cap use range is also highly affected by using multispecs, so it depend on your roles and tactics. A rook who wants to jam from range will use racials only, a shorter range blackbird would probably mix it up a bit unless he exactly knows which targets he'll get.

Each has an individual chance to jam the target.
The chance is based on the ships sensor strength divided by the jammer strength for example Caldari Ship has 9 sensor strength you have a Gravimetric ECM which has a jam strength of 3 so you have a 1 in 3 chance to jam the ship for 20 seconds. Each individual ECM Module works the same way independantly.

K, that all makes sense.
Thanks for the help!
