I have begun using EVE radio, but I have noticed that the Jukebox appears to play music which is copyrighted, I am wondering how it legally manages this? Thanks for any help. |

EVE Radio is not operated by CCP, so your question is best asked of the people who do run EVE Radio
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

Thanks for your help. I have looked around their site and haven't found anything explaining how they get the music. or the right to play it. SO I'll get round to emailing the support team. Until I get a reply, I'll assume its not elgal and stop using it. Thanks. |

Radio stations don't pay for the right to play music "on air." If you buy a CD and want to broadcast it, you bought that right when you bought the CD. (I'm wondering why I have to tell somebody this.) Normally recording "labels" give recordings to radio stations to broadcast as it's the best advertising ever created to sell recordings.

WOW, someone seems to be hating hardcore .... If you dont wanna listen , then dont .. they are not breaking any laws , because when you setup a shoucast station you pay a fee to broadcast mp3's that you own ... so sleep soundly at night knowing that Eve Radio is legally able to do what it does and just enjoy it ... |

This isn't true in the least. Setting up a Shoutcast station does not necessarily grant you the right to openly broadcast any music you own. The laws concerning this vary greatly by nation, but radio broadcasters typically purchase a broadcast license for the songs they wish to air. This sort of license is considerably more expensive than the personal use license you get when you buy an MP3 or music CD.
Chances are that Eve Radio is doing what pretty much every Shoutcast station does and just quietly ignores licensing issues. Its copyright infringement that no one gives a crap about. |

Even if it were illegal, which I do not know either way, surely it would be the broadcaster breaking the law and not you?

There are some people on the Internet who are ethical. Why they would be playing Eve Online is beyond me but I look forward to victimizing them. |

To set up a internet radio station does require expensive licenses. And I know from previous chats and the fact that they are still on air that they indeed hold these licenses.
And grey how do you mean they took greed is good? |

Just login to EVE and ask one of the DJ's in their official chat channel.
I "believe" they hold a a broadcast license because they pay into a pool with other smaller operators.
Side question, what if they don't hold the license? Your not distributing these songs, RIAA (or your countries variant) isn't going to sue you for listening to a radio station on the Internet. |
