Just thought about it, heard BT were due to upgrade their exchanges at distribution side throughout this year, getting ready to switch over to fibre optic at start of 2009, possibly that which is responsible for it. Its weird because everything else works 100% ok, just eve which doesnt seem to want to.

Eve is down for me in Northern Ireland. Oh and noo, what i meant was in domain subheading in netstat and tracert it usually reads btcentralplus but now its reading core.bt? wondering what that is about. Anybody tried turning router off for 5 mins and switching back on? Sounds really lame but if BT have swapped something over in network it might remain as a "dead" route until the next time you connect into network.

Yeah well lets hope they get it fixed quick because paying way over the odds for internet to have the best thing about it not work anymore is not going to win them new customers... Just really don't understand why Eve would be the only thing that no longer works. Guess for once its nice to see its not the Eve Server thats the problem (Always looking on the bright side )

It did cross my mind, as funnily enough, it went down just coming into peak hours, and I can traceroute other IPs on the same major net, just not the main server.

Same situation for me here in Cornwall, using BT, no EVE and yet everything else works fine. The odd thing is I was actually playing EVE when it died on me !?! So, something's changed somewhere in BT's network.

Back now.
Called bt, the woman on the phone put me through to lv2 tech support and the next person seemed to understand the problem but in the end just got me to add eve's port to the homehub settings. By which time the servers were back up.
I even ran tracert while she was screen sharing which blatantly showed the tracert wasnt failing at the homehub and it was at the servers showing before.

Level 2 tech support with BT just means the indian guy can just read larger words than the level 1 techs. BT's customer support is an absolute nightmare, company used to be brilliant in the early 90s when my dad worked for them but lately its been gutted, cant get an engineer for love nor money, huge bills for everything they do and inadequate "technical support" which simply tell you to ping IPs and reset your router.
British telecom really is abismal.

first from states, then from level 3 handoff to eve host network back towards a couple of you, looks like Ripe network or another isp like BT's peer point w/ them is the fault
if it isn't down on your isp, their tech support isn't going to be able to do jack all for ya, just have to wait it out
