I seem to have a problem with my comp overheating. It runs idle at 50c but then when I run eve it shoots up to over 80c and my computer crashes. It has only just started doing this. Has anyone else had this problem or is my CPU on its way out?

It's not normal for it to jump 30C. 50C is a reasonable idle temp with stock fans. 80 is, well, too much. Try reseating the heatsink/fan like the dude above me suggested.

I had an Arctic cooling heatsink (64 freezer pro) but it was very dusty. I thought this was the reason for over heating. I installed speedfan after searching the internet. I took it out and cleaned it and replaced the therm paste, still the same. I removed that and put the stock heatsink on and as i guessed would happen still the same. The cpu is a year maybe 2 old, but i do leave my computer on prety much all day every day and most of the time I have eve running. Am going to re sit the AC heatsink if that doesnt work I will just buy a new cpu and hope that works, unless anyone has any ideas

that cooler should have no problems keeping your cpu down, you running stock speeds?
id expect less than 50 on full load absolute max with that, what chip is it? i had an old opteron 146 cabne running 3.4ghz on one of those and that never went over 50

Strange as it sounds, im having the same issue.
My laptop, of 2 years, has never had an issue with heat. I've pushed the graphics and CPU on the game pretty hard in the past, and saw at most a 6-8 degree jump. Running Eve however im seeing a 25 degree jump within the first 5-7 minutes of playing.
I've jury-rigged a ventalation pad, but to no avail. yes i've cleaned my heat sink's and fans, and regunked them.
