I'll keep this pretty short as I think it's pretty simple.
I'm looking for one (maybe two) people that I can teach and develop. I'd like to see people run more trading workshops, advocate businesses, and basically work towards the greater maturation of the markets.
Why?
My time is limited these days...I believe my work with EBANK is critical to the further maturation of the market, however this has monopolized my already limited time to the point that my broader efforts and work have suffered.
Who are you looking for?
First and most importantly, someone who is willing and able to remain dedicated for a considerable length of time to the effort. This does not require large amounts of time per day, merely a long-term consistent dedication to talk with me on a regular basis.
Just as important, someone who is passionate and willing to work for the market regardless of opposition or resistance. It is a hard and sometimes thankless goal. I would like to find someone willing to endure this.
Don't feel as though you are too young to try for this. It may be that a "blank slate" absorbs what I have to say more readily. Plus that may be more fun.
Oh, and you have to be smart. That's a requirement.
How will it work?
Mostly through MSN. Instruction will be extremely informal and opportunistic. I will make myself as available as possible to the candidate(s) and also of course infringe upon their own time as often as possible. The goal is to have them lead a trading/business workshop eventually before going on to persue larger goals within the market.
Will you charge anything?
No, no charge. Except for your soul. You won't miss it; I promise.
How do I apply?
You can apply in this thread or, if you are more comfortable, contact me directly through email ([email protected]) or through MSN (again, [email protected]). I tend to judge people in my own fashion. I have no bias towards market non-regulars but would point out that this process is aimed to turn you into a market regular.
Uh...are you endorsing the person then?
I very very very rarely endorse anyone. I try to avoid it. Whoever I accept will need to earn their own way when it comes to trust. I'm simply going to provide all of my knowledge, thoughts, experiences, and long term views.
So...I think that ended up being longer than I thought it would be.

Not planning on it. Teaching or lecturing (workshop, blog, etc) is fine and helps alot of people...I'm more interested however in developing one or two people.
More focused efforts with a more focused payoff. The community will see absolutely no short-term benefit. I do hope however, that the long term benefit will be substantial.

Hey, i'm interested. I've not been around too long, but so far the market has really been the only thing to bring me back to playing Eve... it's the unique thing about it, you know?
I'd love to have someone to learn from. I know the basics of buying and selling already; I think some formaly informal teaching would be perfect.

I'm up for it! I'm DEFINITELY up for it!
Who am I : I've been playing EVE for some time, but only came to trading lately. I started by reading extensively this forum, then investing very limited amounts of ISK (less than 100m), just to get the hang of it.
I then created an alt with max trade skills (which gives me 57open orders, but poor skills in accounting and broker relations), in order to see how much and how fast I could earn isk, just by using the market (no investment in this character, he started with the 5k every new character has, and he's not hauling anything, not leaving the station). I then realized Ricdic did something pretty similar some time ago, but i must say he was far better at it than I am...
I created the alt (Gimme Zecash) maybe 10 days ago, played it for approximatively a week, and am currently at 30 to 35m NAV. I'm only doing margin trading at the moment (with that money, i'm not sure i could get into volume margin, even on cheap items ;), and updating the orders twice a day.
I'm playing two accounts : 1/ "Arkham Lerouge" (mission running, exploration, a bit of trading...) 2/ "Johnny Biboul" (production, mining) and "Gimme Zecash" (full trade)
I'm not sure I'm a smart person, but i'm surely smart enough to see that this opportunity is unique!
I'm also the creator of the "Traders Hideout" ingame channel (Linkage).
I've added you to my MSN and gmail tchat ;)

P.S: as you may have seen, English is not my mother language... well, it is (my mom's english, and I have the double nationaly French/English). I don't think this could be a downer, as I believe I can understand and speak english pretty well, and I'd be happy to have a chat with you (MSN or TS) to confirm that ;)

Trading is a nice hobby or source of income, and I'll certainly be sharing my knowledge of it; however, my intentions are to create a protege or two. I included that bit about myself to help frame what I expect my protege(s) to learn and/or become familiar with. My goals extend far beyond just trading itself.
Thank you to all who have sent me e-mails as well. I'll be letting this thread and the emails runs for about a week before I start discussions with possible candidates.
If you've found my help beneficial in the past, I invite you to post your thoughts/impressions as it may help define what I do better for those who may not be as familiar. Also, I would point out that one of my workshops was recorded not too long ago. I believe it's under HEXXX.RAR somewhere. That may help you understand what I'm about a bit more.

Nice initiative Hexxx (that's the least you can do considering Ebanks part in destabilizing the secondary market), I suppose the best thing you can teach your apprentices is the middle man job i.e. charge 15% and give 3% return.
Don't get me wrong Ebank provided excellent services and still wouldn't have made such a big impact if its operations were confined only to banking, however it's done, past, and no reason to bring it again.

While EBANK is certainly a feather in my hat, I would point out that the first accepted template/format for IPO's was of my design which lead to the current accepted minimum standards that we mostly see today. One of the largest IPO's (FIN; for it's time and a while after) was assisted by myself as well. What I do isn't about profits but about furthering the markets as a whole. Trust me, I don't make a single isk off EBANK (all of my deposited ISK sits in a sweep fund which earns no interest at all, serving to merely reduce the aggregate interest rate across the total funds)
If applicants believe that what I'm going to give them is the key to making riches, I would suggest they look elsewhere.
I have already explained this in my initial posts and through my follow ups. Hopefully this reply can serve as a "exclamation point" to my message so far. I'd rather people not be confused at all in terms of what my intentions are...the kind of misconception that you allude to would waste the time of a candidate and my time as well so I'd prefer we all be perfectly clear on the matter.
I invite you take discussions of secondary market destablization to the thread which already addresses the topic "Death of the Secondary Market". I believe Mr. H has discussed the nature of the bulk of our loans and their respective speculative impact (or lack thereof) on the secondary markets.

Edited by: Demption on 14/05/2008 12:31:10 My soul is available. I can (and want to) spend most of my Eve time on the market, and I'm not going to use an alt. I'm interested in both the primary (if that's the correct term) and secondary market: how they work, why they work and how everything affects everything. I'd love to develop my skills and learn more!

to follow on Ric's reply, I am definitely ready and willing to become a teacher. I've been a teacher for some time in "out of game" life, and this was one of my goals when creating the "traders hideout" ingame channel.
I'm also listing all the mistakes I do when trading, in order to write a post/pdf/doc/wiki/whatever one day, when I have enough material, to share with other players.
Hopefully, it'll prevent them loosing all their iskies on stupid/noob mistakes, and be scared or leave trading.
I'd be delighted to learn more, in order to share more!

Hi - please consider me
I started playing EVE about October last year, started of as a miner, then mission runner, but then found that I enjoyed trading more than anything else.
At point one I read many of the market "how to trade" guides and then decided to take the plunge and started with a small investment - and never looked back.
I have turned a soldier created character into a nearly 2mill SP trading char and one of my longer terms goals is to help corp mates - and other mates to sustain their game time on EVE through their own activities in whichever field they enjoy most.
My corp leader has recognised this and also shares my ambitions in this area.
I donÆt know anything about IPOs
My trading char is called "No Mahdss"

Essentially, this is correct. I'd like to see someone or a few someones teach but also I'd like to have someone who is willing and able to steer/nudge/guide the markets in the right direction.
People can argue about what effect I've had on the markets (it's not my place to say), but regardless of how pragmatic an ideal it may be...it is my ideal none the less and I'd like to see someone share that as well.
Some examples of my efforts can be seen in my IPO template, writings on standardization, defining stocks/bonds, and my proposals on virtualizing shares.

I've had a few conversations with Hexxx in the past, he seems legit. He probably won't scam you out of your soul. :p
On a more serious note, I really like this idea but for some reason when I picture myself as your "apprentice" I see Mickey Mouse dancing around with the sorcerer's wand but unable to control the magic he is trying to use (From the Walt Disney classic "Fantasia").
Anyways, Hexxx when you login next can you please contract my collateral back to me from my last loan that was closed? Thanks in advance.

Hey Hexxx,
Thought I'd ask about time requirements. I don't have a whole of time lately to play Eve now. Maybe a few hours a week atm. However, I would be VERY interested in learning from you. I don't think it's possible to know too much.

Hi Hexxx
I've always appreciated your work for the "secondary" market of EvE and have even used parts of it already.
I'd very much like to work with you as my "Mentor" and learn more about consulting others, the details about the Market and the ropes behind it. My goal in it would mostly be to bring that knowledge out to others and help them in building up ventures, IPO's or to teach them myself. I've been doing this already since soon after I started playing in a small scale (like explaining them the basics of the market statistics or other things like scanning with the ship scanners and so on) amongst my corporation members. I think that helping others is something that brings me a lot of joy in most games.
My past Now you surely know a bit of my past with Nano Tech I suppose, and would probably think that it could happen anytime again that I am away from the game for a longer time. Even if I can not guarantee it 100% I hope it wonÆt happen so soon again, there might be breaks here or there, but for sure not as long.
Time and Dedication? I donÆt know which time zone you are living in, and if we would be able to communicate, but that should be easy to find out. I'll be dedicated to the work with you for sure, however my game times are limited and I canÆt spend hours every day in EvE.
Finally: I think IÆm clever enough to be able to follow your teachings and I hope to hear from you, here on the forum or in game.
Greetings Blue
