So, like I just started playing Eve online, and I think its totally awesome, but I have this ship called a "Velator" and I don't really know where to go from here.
Don't get me wrong, the Velator is like a totally fabulous ship and looks really nice, but I'm not sure really what to do with such an ummm... tiny ship.
Does anyone have any suggestions for where I should go from here? Thank yous! |

I think you should think about what you've just done, if your serious then people will be glad to help... I'd recommend starting with a gallente frigate and then moving to a destroyer.

Train directly for the Vexor, and let your drones do the work!
Also, the Catalyst is a great ship. :)

That is unfortunate. The Sac is a ship I love.
To the OP: try to get yourself in a destroyer and then a Thorax or Vexor. Enjoy those for a while.

You don't go anywhere after the Velator.
Velator is Eve's endgame tbh.

Poor OP, I hope you have at least some forum skills to filter the crap from the useful advice in this thread, for there's some of both
(hint: Incursus -> Catalyst -> Thorax... or Imicus -> Vexor)

I'm a long term planner, but this is how I intend to go: Punisher, Arbitrator, Curse, Damnation. Basically, look at the gallante frigate market, pick a ship that suits your play style, and proceed to plan the next four or five ships. That helps you stay foccused ingame, and gives the max longterm benifit.

in the 10 part introduction mission you will get a new ship, an atron i think.
the most important thing to do, right now, is get rid of the civy blassters and get some real guns. if you havent done that yet then go do it now!
as for the future, well, what do you like? do you like to blow the rats away with long range guns as they try to get close to you? do you like to charge into close range and rip the rats to shreds with powerful close range guns? or do you like to get your minions to do the work? those options are rails guns, blasters and drones, and there are some great ships to cater for all of those options.
if you fancy raining down a barrage of missiles, or melting things with lasers then you should look at trying a different races ships (caldari or amarr). and of course there are the minmatar, they can do all of the above but are the experts of speed not firepower or tank.
the "best" way to kill the rats is with missiles and the raven. personally i've been playing this game since beta with a few breaks and am having too much fun with my turrets to even look at that route. so you don not have to go with the "best" choice, go with whats fun for you.
once you have worked out how you want to have your fun then you can start asking about which ships and modules you should aim for. until then just mess about, find out what you like about this game. there is nothing stopping you from training the other races ships, or taking a non combat path. Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage |

You should receive at the end of a 10 part mission, a free Navitas and a blueprint for a Navitas. So use said Navitas to mine until you have enough isk for a Vexor, then start running level 1 and 2 missions while you train salvaging. Before you know it you'll be making isk in a Myrmidon running level 3 missions. ---- What part of "shorn't" do you not understand? |

run missions and get yourself a better frig, incurses or tristan are both good. Then train for a vexor. The vexor with a decent fit will easily do lvl 1 and 2 missions. Also train for salvaging as it brings in some nice isk.

What you get from the 10-part introductory mission series depends on your career choice. Industry gets a mining frigate like the Navitas; Military gets a tier 2 fighting ship like the Atron; and if I recall correctly Business gets the same as Industry. You are free to run all three series if you want, and some people do this for the free skillbooks and experience. (Salvaging costs almost a million ISK but you get it free from the Business series.)
