Hi everyone!
Lately i have been getting dreams while sleeping and i could only remember one of those dreams, which i thought is a good idea to realise - although i would like to hear your ideas about it - whether it's interesting to realise it and there are people who need it.
The Idea:
In basic words: a webbased (and IGB compliant) corp/alliance management system
Detailed words: The webbased system would allow corps and alliances to manage their entire corp/alliance. Just a few features which came up:
User Section
1.Register/Login/Forgot password/ -- How will it work ? Basically when a user wants to register - they need to enter their user id and api key in order to continue (the limited apikey). When they have multiple characters, they need to select one from the list and then they continue with the registration process - ability to add forms eg: Why did you signup, how did you hear from us etc....
Once they are registered, they are set to inactive, untill one of the managers (higher ranked members with permissions) have given them permission to access the other parts of the website. Once activated - 1. a random password (which is unretrievable) will be made and the manager can give it to the member 2. a random password (which is unretrievable) will be made and will be emailed to the member (if email input is required)
Basically thats the authentication part - so you are sure the right member signs up.
2. Build in forums The system will allow you to integrate with popular forums systems or you can use the build in forums. other forums which will be supported primarily: * Vbulletin * PHPBB * SMF Other forum systems on request
3. Operations Tracker The operations tracker basically gives you a few options to track down things. - 1. Enemy / Friendly POS tracker - 2. Corp/alliance mining ops - 3. Corp/alliance fleet ops In these sections you post the mandatory operations along with time and other information which might be handy to know.
4. Orders Operations A form where you can order items from the Corp or Alliance The user will select multiple(or 1) items from the list and confirm the order along with the total price. They can lookup orders that they have made as well - that way they can cancel or edit any orders within 24 hours(default) (which you can set yourself).
The user assigned to take the orders will get notified through email and a in-system PM. This user (or multiple users) who have permission to take orders, will have a back end will all the orders which they can edit, delete or add all the time and set it to complete - or payment not recieved or other options which you can set yourself.
5. Submit Operations This section will be primarily be used for operations which have been done by member(s) during their own time:
Minerals Ore Ice Ore Alloys & Compounds Salvaged Materials
For example there will be a corp hangar - they can place all the stuff in there, once they are done they select the items they have added to the corp hangar and submit the operation. They will also see the price they get (which you can set) for each item and in total they get. And then you pay them out (ofcourse - you should double check if they entered the right amount in to the hangars ;-) ).
6. Killboard integration Just integrate the killboard in to the system That way you don't have to install two things ;-)
7. News & Announcements A news and announcements page for others to see upcoming evens
8. Admincp -Permission system -Member management -Forum management -Settings A control panel for the highest ranked members
9. Operations backend Same as above - only for operations
Everything will be permission based - if you don't have the permission for it - then you are not able to view it.
The requirements to have a own system installed:
A webhost with : 10 MB+ space PHP 5.2+ Mysql 4+

I am working on one of those already, basically. If you look at the thread in this section called EveCMS - Project Recruitment. I've got about 15,000 lines of code written towards this goal. 15,000 lines doesn't say much - how about a preview ?

Edited by: Beseiged on 15/05/2008 17:19:16 I've got a few screen shots posted in my thread. Right now to access the site it is limited to only people within the corporation. If you have any interest in being part of it, I've got an alt who is going to set up a headquarters near Jita with the site running for that corp. I will be posting more images tonight of work I have completed.
I have no intentions of merging any third party tools into the site. Everything is going to be integrated and working together, instead of duct taping tools together. There's a thing I wrote by now about 3 years ago, well before the API was ever talked about. It's called, surprise surprise, the Corp Management Tool. You can find it at http://www.corpmanager.net/. Originally built for my old corporation JubaCorp, it does almost everything you mentioned. Underlying base is a virtual bank/account system. Basically you get/lose credit based on things you do in the system. It's got an integrated ordering system, a mineral/ore/salvage submit section, news, a mining op manager (create a mining op, and choose start or leave for existing members to determine starting time or ending time.), an item loan manager (you loan a ship from the corp, you clock it out and back in), etc. By now it's old(er) and not up to modern coding standards; it doesn't use the API at all, nor does it use the static data dumps the way it should (to a certain extent it does though), but it got the job done and is/was fully IGB compliant (which is why it looks so fugly ) The plan was once to have say http://your_corp_name_or_ticker.corpmanager.net/ and provide it as a hosted service...
I once started working on a new version of said system, but besides a vastly improved member system based on API keys, a complete new interface (now IGB only for account creation and XHTML browser based for the rest) and only half the shopping system being in place etc etc. For some reason I lost interest in it, but every now and then I pick it up again and do a little coding here and there. Wish I could show it to you, but I'd have to dust it off and clean it up a little bit before I do... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What would you suggest seeing pictures of then? I take them as I can. I never said this was a completed project. It's something I am building for my corp and going to release to the community as I get things completed. I'm working in my free time on Joomla! in EVE. The site is working both IGB and standard browser. Up to this date I have functional articles, user registration (only through mail), Simplest Forum and Slimbox Image Gallery Plugin.
Future plans include API integration (probably through some 3rd party library), complex forum, and many many eve specific custom modules.

Looks all nice - but doesn't really answer my question ;-) Are there corp's / alliances interested in having a system of their own? Lot's of features - but tight security as well.

Although not web-based and not planned to expand to the other areas, I already have written an app to do #3: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=732089
