Nice idea!
I visited the station and it is blasted and a huge chunk missing. Fires all over and really a carnage. These reports are not fake but real!
The only thing I wonder about: where are all the caldari warships? Shouldn't they appear at once and secure the station surroundings? And help in rescuing the people and materials from the station?

There are such buy orders, but for some bizarre reason -- at least in the case of antibiotics -- they're for significantly below market cost (as defined by nearby NPC traders). So people are stepping in and outbidding the relief effort.
It's either a bad movie plot or a good economics lesson.

They told so on the news. They can't use the main funds so they use the ISK they have access to.
Apart from antibiotics and hydrogen cells, there were also orders for oxygen and dairy products as far as I know. The hydrogen cells orders have been filled and for the last two I have filled those meself. Ok, with a depth but think of all the people that are dying.

Yeah, I saw that. But on the other hand, better to pay 400 isk to buy 500,000 antibiotics and have haulers lining up for them, than to try to buy 1,000,000 @ 200 isk each and winding up with almost none, yes?

It's a hoax! All of it!!!
If you look at the picture I linked, you'll see with your own eyes that it's all just a carefully constructed event for the government-pleasing media. Did the station blow up? It sure did! But from the footage available, it's easy to see that it's a controlled explosion coming from the INSIDE and OUT.
Why? Because the caldari government has been secretly persecuting anyone who doesn't believe in passive shield tanking and mission running! Because the caldari government will stop at NOTHING before we all fly phat tank-no gank drakes and ravens with cloaks on!
I call upon all caldari pilots and fellow fedophiles who prefer the sleek, slender, curve-shaped and slightly phallic gallente designs to the grey, post-modernistic, dead-tech, militant style of the caldari government!
Expose the caldari government! Expose the lies! Fight for your freedom!!!

Edited by: Aragane on 17/05/2008 13:59:52 The idea of a guy taking a large craft and flying it into a larger symbolic target not only reminds me of 9/11, but moreso of a Tom Clancy novel called Debt of Honor, since the ship was under the command of the guy it was supposed to be commanded by. I won't post why here, but if you don't mind the spoilers you can look up the book on Wikipedia.
(Edit)
I just went and looked up the item description for the Nyx. The line ". . . it is a proud reminder of the things that make the Federation what it is." only makes it exceedingly appropriate a ship of this class was rammed in the HQ of one of the major Caldari corporations. ______

I was pretty sure something big was going to happen. All wars are started by population pressure, you just have to read the events of the time and where they took place to see it set in motion. The riots and attacks happening up to this point have just been adding fuel to the powder keg. Now with this attack, this "flashpoint", I fear that nothing will stop what has been put into motion. This is will be the darkest age EVE has yet to face, and probably the bloodest to come. |

The Gallente, are a race who would free the Minmitar slave with one hand but maim Caldari women and children with the other. With this heinous and unprovoked attack against a civilian and commercial station, in our sovereign space. We will not endure this massacre unchallenged.
This day we remember those fallen during the siege of Caldari Prime, we remember those Caldari families, those millions who were exterminated in their own homes on their sovereign lands by this Gallente menace, we remember the sacrifices made by those who gave their last breath for their people and we honour the legacy of Tovil-Toba.
We will never forget, and we will never forgive.
We will return to Caldari Prime, crushing Gallente ash under foot. On our return we shall find a new sun in our sky, as fires rage on what was once known as Gallente Prime. For a time at least, for as its light fades, as will the last remnants of the Gallente scourge..

Good job CCP, there's only one thing about this that to me makes it feel half-arsed.
Make the station broken! Roll a dice. The players unfortunate enough to be docked/have stuff stored where the Nyx "landed": Tough ****! You're dead and your ships are fried. Clones? Popped. People who survived? If you're lucky you can undock in an emergency escape pod, if not, well... I guess you're stuck until rescue forces arrive.
I know people would whine it was mean and sucked and all, but really, it's EVE! It's supposed to be harsh! If I had everything I owned in that station, IC I'd be furious, OOC I'd think it was freakin' great that you went to such lengths to make it realistic.
