Edited by: Jack Bofors on 30/04/2004 20:33:25 G'day there,
Relatively new bloke here, surfed 6 pages in and couldn't find anything related to multi-monitor support/questions.
I've got a line on a 2nd monitor from a friend and before I grab it I thought I'd better ask if I can even use both ingame.
Anyone successfully managed this yet? Thx for any h3lp!

yes, i have.
if you can i would suggest matching your monitors, not neccessary but I like to think it helps smooth things out.
you need either a dual head graphic card or pci cards. I found dual head cards sometimes corrupt the "other" account and after that happens........it's almost like the card bios is corrupt and crashes the other window.
I had much better results using my agp card by itself and adding a PCI card for the second monitor.
you have to go into your monitor settings and "extend your desktop" onto second monitor.
in order to run two characters you need two accounts, not two characters on same account that means two monthly fees and two seperate sign ins.
you then need to run the game in window mode.
I might suggest loggin in one character completely before logging in the other, just to help ensure no corrupt info gets shared between accounts at log i, not supposed to but I'm kinda funny about that.
you simply put one character window on one screen and the other window on the other. there are also some mouse settings for that. you can set it up so that when your mouse is on one screen, it will make that window the active window.
if you don't set that, then you must click on the screen you want before you can control it.
you find some other mouse options that also help with performance.
be forwarned though, running two accounts at same time on two monitors is very very demanding on your system. unless you got a very fast system and have cable internet, i would not suggest using it for battle situations. the lag WILL kill you.
works absolutely great for mining practices though

Thanks for the response...sounds sweet. System requirements could be my achilles heel. Blast
Seeing as there is only one account, the setup you mention won't do me much good. Can you stretch a single account across 2 monitors? What I really want to do (and soz for not explaining this in the original post) is have my ship on one monitor and all the menus on the other. Any chance of that? Have you tried it successfully?

If you have performance issues on the non-active instance of EvE you may get better overall performance by optimizing your computer for background servieces
R-Click My computer > Advanced tab > Performance Settings > Advanced Tab
I found that while it hurts the performance of my active window (only a little) there's substantial improvement in my 2nd instance.

you can change your screen size to do that but might cause other problems for ya.
as far as putting "other" windows from your main account........nope
can't pull sub windows outside of main game window.
good luck
