So hands up all those who want to stay out on 0.0, POS busting in lag-fleets or spending 4 hours hunting down an inattentive isk farming Raven pilot, when you can get hours and hours of PVP fun at the new FW instances?
I predict pilots will be leaving the alliances in droves to go have some real fun. The coalition couldn't take down BoB, looks like FW will :) |

I think FW will be limiting players in one or another way, or maybe a lot of ways. Something 0.0 doesn't do if you exclude lag rendering any sort of manouvering impossible during large battles. |

Edited by: Hannobaal on 15/05/2008 21:24:33 1. They're not instances.
2. This is assuming this whole faction warfare thing will actually work as intended, and it will be in a way that will appeal to the vast majority of pvp combat oriented players. (I wouldn't hold my breath on that.) |

Ok arena's, or deadspace areas, whatever you want to call them, same difference really... Who's trip-trapping on my bridge? |

Edited by: Amastat on 15/05/2008 21:30:38 Edited by: Amastat on 15/05/2008 21:29:46 I don't think it's going to end up like a space version of WoW - instanced battlegrounds, ugh.
CCP has made it clear they will not sell out and go into that crap though. They want EVE PvP to be EVE PVP - not WoW PvP and mile-long lines of the same old repetative crap.
The intent behind this expansion is to create a new way to PvP, and create a bridge between empire and null-sec pilots. This has been said over and over.
The intent is not to replace current PvP style and kill off 0.0. If that happens the game will get really boring and really laggy real fast having everyone in high sec and low sec. Not to mention all the carebears will go to 0.0 to take advantage of the resources.
CCP should and is being careful about this - if they sell the gameplay style out to Blizzard, then I and many others iwll have to seriously rethink us and EVE.
I'm not worried about that happening though, CCP has assured that won't happen. They had better live up to that, or we will be not only disappointed, but lied to and ****ed off.
And yea, they are deadspace complexes and zones, not instances. It's not instanced in any way, its more along the lines of war and battlezones for faction warfare.
If it was instanced, there would be portals and specific grids for this stuff - and we'd have these stupid WoW lines for battlegrounds that is the same damn thing over and over and over. ____________________

Not really, actually.

No, because an instance implies that it would not be interruptible in any way. Two sides go in, and that's it. This way anyone can just wander into the deadspace area when they like, reinforcements and that sort of thing.
Anyway. Super-alliances won't die. It's far more likely that smaller alliances will die the super-alliances; the super-alliances have too much time invested into what they already have to disintegrate like that.

Hmm, carebear tears to come, I predict.
But wait! Perhaps not! Perhaps there will be nullsec hero tears instead, as they realise they've forgotten how to fly T1 frigates, and watch all the carebears scooping all the lovely faction booty.

The kind of people in 0.0 alliances who went around solo and in small gangs are the ones that are most likely to go for this, and they have plenty enough experience in this sort of thing. Those who prefer to fly battleships or capitals in massive fleets won't get anything out of factional warfare anyway so it's hardly going to be an issue

I kinda decided to wait and see on my move to 0.0 with this whole FW thing coming. Not that i need a 'bridge' to PvP but i am rather curious of the content. I don't think this will kill off 0.0 alliances in anyway, GTA4 and AoC are doing that well enough already, but i digress.
My take is this....good idea if implemented better than lvl 5's, which I'm sorry was a joke imo... and i hate to say it but i think FW is an effort by ccp to correct the lvl 5 snafu that didn't work. More or less i see FW as 'glorified' mission content and little else.
Just my two isk worth.

There are going to be plenty. Hell...depending on how ****ed bob and others are that they arent being allowed to take direct action...
Let me put it this way. War means concord fails. If concord fails and falls apart that means you can essentially use a cyno in high sec. I wonder just how much of nullsec would be willing to join up for a fight to tear apart one of the big four. If for no other reason than the history making aspect of it.
Now CCP wouldnt be that fair of course because they just LOVE screwing with people. But its a nasty little thought that would be quite frankly a hell of a lot of fun. We all can dream cant we?
