Alot of discussion on the Exploration channel on this.. can we get a GM/Dev definitive answer on this please?
4 scenarios- system w/ no yellow(agent) or (white) beacon - if UNKNOWN (or other) sig found it is valid. system w/ (yellow)agent beacon --ALWAYS shows and unknown found - is the beacon giving a false unknown on exploration (Multispectral probe)? System w/(white) beacon- ALWAYS shows and unknown found - is the beacon giving a false unknown on exploration?(Multispectral probe) System with white and yellow beacon- ALWAYS shows and unknown found - is one or other beacon giving a false unknown on exploration? I thought beacons were not supposed to give Unknown signals.. Has this changed?
A solid honest simple answer would be appreciated!

If it shows up on the map as a DED report, it will give a "false" unknown. All sites moved to exploration were / are DED's and thats what the probes show as "unknown". Expeditions were added to the DED pool, and also show up as unknowns.
If it says there are two, & only 1 fixed DED is present there is an unknown in the system.
Number of Unknown hits - Number of fixed DEDs.
Not hard to understand TBH.
AFAIK the beacons show up show up still as "false" unknowns. I will usualy drop a probe, if I get only 1 hit, move on.
Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

perhaps you havent scanned in awhile.. but it doesnt tell you the NUMBER of unknowns or any other signal in a system, afaik. So if you see an unknown signal, it should be corrected to be only a VALID signal. otherwise it is still broken system. If it is functioning properly, the scanning guide should STATE thats to avoid confusion and loss of enjoyment in the exploration community.
if, indeed, it DID show the number of possible signals present.. it would not be such an issue. but I dont think that would be a good addition, honestly.

I didn't think that multiple signals showed up as multiple lines. I think if you get an "unknown" there could be 2 or 3 or more.

Yes there are false signals
Yes there is "BUG REPORT" option.
Yes i did bug report it.
And yes - it was confirmed to be fixed on internal server already.
Yes?

Beacons dont show on the scan as unknown. Agents in space however do and there in is the problem.

Beacons do show. I did some hisec exploring and all those 1/10 plexes clutter scan with "unknown". Also like i said: it was confirmed by bug hunter.

I can confirm that and the "false" unknown from the DED complex can hide several "true" unknown. My record so far has been 4 "true" unknown exploration sites hidden by a 2/10 complex.

The consensus among explorers is that if you scan for cosmic signatures in a system that has a beacon on the overview, the beacon will be detected as an unknown on the multispec scan. You will then never find that particular unknown with probes, although there may be non beacon unknowns in the system. Most of us dont want to waste time on possible unknowns when there are plenty of definite unknowns in systems without beacons.
